Big Al's Pirates of the Carolinas

SMU wins opening coin toss, elects to receive- 3 and out.
Anyone else besides me, would like to see us play defense first and get the ball to start 2nd half?

ECU coach Montgomery, is another 1st year coach, and is 38 years old.

#12 Kevin Johnson is a backup safety. He also had one carry in the 1st half and another in the 2nd half, for a 10 yard score. I heard Galliard is injured-that's why he didn't play.
Braeden West is a tuff son of a gun, gutting it out with a couple of injuries. He had over 100 yards.
Freeman isn't real fast or quick; he's just a good football player.

ECU's wildcat QB and RB Summers, killed us last year. He had around 80 yards in the first half, I would have rode him.

Defense was getting out muscled and missing too many tackles, until pick six gave them a spark.
Too many YAC.

Defense giving up another long td drive, with under a minute before the half--concerning.
Stupid penalty by RC Cox.

SMU zero turnovers, 477 yards, 55 points.
ECU 5 turnovers, 466 yards, 2 pick six, 31 points.
Scary to think, what could have happened with just 2 turnovers...

Chauncy Briggs back at RT.
Daniel McCarty didn't play-Braylon Hyder started at his LG spot.

Ben Hicks still throwing shot ducks. But the kid continues to grow.

JT Williams got some mop up time at DT...same for Keyfer Roberts and Badajo. Interesting to see what happens with Badejo next season. looks to small for DE. Would he have the mobility for an inside backer spot. Thoughts anyone?

SPECIAL TEAMS: Oh My Gosh

Unless Sackville gets a long roll, he's good for 24-25 yards.
Kickoffs are a complete cluster---
Kick returns-see above.
Special teams are a major anchor around this teams neck. After 10 games, they still find ways to get worse...something or someone, has to change in the offseason.

Great road win- This team finished with 2 AAC road wins and 3 overall...pretty dang good!

One wonders if the members of the 'special' team for kick coverage thinks it's a try out for the special olympics team.

One of our kickoffs in the second half, was against the sideline, that should have been used as a defender...that took away half of the field. All we had to do was close the noose, we still let them get around the coverage, for a return to the opposite side of the field. You almost have to be trying, to be this inept.
