"Except for Special Teams which has not been good"

Postby Pony in SA » Sat Nov 12, 2016 2:27 pm

TV Guys calling it again. First kick this half guy runs it from endzone all the way to 38, then next kickoff they run it past the 40 (43 or44). Serious - If you can't kick it out of the endzone, just kick it out of bounds and make them start at 35.

Except when they did kick it out of the end zone for a touchback, it was called back because someone on the kicking team was offsides. You can't make this stuff up...

Thought exact same thing, it is comical. I think even Dan Hawkins laughed.

Chad should invite every former H.S. baller on campus to come to open tryouts to become our 12th men and to cover kicks. Could it possibly be any worse than it was today?

it's really scary it is so bad it is at the point where we should just kick it out of the bounds. there is no way we can't fix this but considering we haven't yet maybe there is no way.

Is there a statistic for kickoff coverage? I'd love to know our rank.

what really took the cake was when we kicked it out of bounds intentionally but didn't kick it past their 30 yard line so with the 5 yd penalty ECU started at their 38 yd line!

The worst kick coverage and kick return team I have ever seen. Put some guys out there that want to block on kick return and want to knock someone out on kick off! It gets worse every week. I'm all for a walk on try out, even if it's just one guy...or girl.

It's more kicker than coverage. This must be fixed asap.

I just watched the full game on dvr. Why did they kick to the 30 every time but then at some point in the 3rd Q, SMU kicked off all the way through the endzone? I thought maybe JW was hurt or something for a while limiting his kicking distance. Can the kicker just not kickoff far with even remote precision? Or are they that scared of letting the other team get a real return opportunity? What gives?

We should add Tony Levine to the staff. He can recruit and can coach ST's.

Does being the ST coach at SMU pay more than at WKU? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Levine

Pay him $10,000 for every yard he can reduce from the average kickoff return. He could probably out earmark Morris.
