a San Juan Bowl would be cool-wouldn't need a passport either like that Bahamas Bowl

You can't drive from San Juan to any of those games!

I'll be stateside for the holidays. I just can't afford an additional plane ticket!

I am going to San Juan in late Jan/Feb. Sadly, I'll be locked in meetings most of the time.

Great place.

I have to say that the American conference really needs to figure out how to get a real P5 bowl game. I was looking through those projections what the best opponent against ours is Kentucky, that's just sad.

Not sure where you are getting your information, but here are our conference bowl tie-ins with opposing conference:

- Armed Forces Bowl (Navy) vs. Big 12
– AutoNation Cure Bowl vs. Sun Belt
– Birmingham Bowl vs. SEC
– Marmot Boca Raton Bowl vs. Conference USA
– Miami Beach Bowl vs. MAC
– Military Bowl vs. ACC
– Popeyes Bahamas Bowl vs. MAC
– St. Petersburg Bowl vs. ACC

Not sure what your definition of a real P5 bowl game consists of, but a couple of points:
1. Why would the ACC, Big 10, Big 12 or Pac12 or SEC (#3-#5) want to play the American champion? What would they gain out from it?
2. Has the American conference proven to be a solid bowl participant? Do American teams travel in significant numbers? For example, the Texas Bowl in Houston matches the Big 12 and SEC. If the American got a shot, could they guarantee 20K+ butts in seats from any school other than UH?

The Access Bowl is as good as it's going to get on that front.

Considering the extra hurdles required for that game, CUSA probably can't back out of it easily.

Good destination but bad date. I didn't know USM had turned it around already.

The AAC is fortunate to have as many games with P5 conferences as we do and as others have said, if our champion is deserving, we can get a game against a "meaningful" P5 opponent by qualifying for the BCS access bowl game. What is equally important is that we win our games against other G5 schools and are recognized as the strongest G5 conference.
