BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listAbout every other week we visit the Baylor/Chad rumor. Chad will not go to Baylor!!!! He will stay at SMU till Texas or A & M calls. If Strong is gone I suspect Herman gets that job. SMU is probably safe for now. He will be content to turn SMU around and let Chandler go to H. P. I am very sure of this!! Unless A & M changes!!
Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listthe OP was what BAYLOR has on its list, not what Chad has on his wish list...as one poster opined,
"Saban is on my list" or thereabouts. Doesn't mean we are on Nick's, or Baylor is on Chad's. Baylor is a better program by comparison, and is in a better conference than SMU. It is not a better school, or in a better location. It took HCCM a good bit to get back to Texas from the desert that is South Carolina...I doubt he will choose to leave SMU for Baylor. He WILL choose his next landing spot here in the Lone Star State, but it will come to him, rather than him having to campaign for it. I think he will be out in Lubbock, replacing Coach Bro when that show is over. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse

They never hint at it, some evade and some outright deny until they're introduced at their new school. It's just the nature of the business. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listPlus they use it for raises and program upgrades

Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listChad isn't going to Texas Tech. Chad interviewed for that job and basically took himself out of the running with his demand on Salarys for his Coordinators. Plus he is way to sharp to move Paula & Chandler out there from Dallas. He will NEVER follow behind Briles again! That was the worst time of his life and Baylor would be a repeat on a much larger stage. Remember this, Texas made a run at him for OC when they hired Strong. The buyout was really steep. Over 5 mil, so Texas backed away. This is the job he would leave for. Research the Highland Park/ Stephenville State Championship Game and events during the following week. This is the time frame when he left Stephenville to go to Lake Travis. You will understand why he will not go to Baylor!!
Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listWe all hope you are right!

Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their list
South Carolina a desert? My guess is you've never been here. I assume that was a reference to Chad's being a long ways from "home" rather than an insult to S.C. I still consider myself a displaced Texan, but having now lived in NC/SC as long as I did in Texas, I'm the 1st to admit the Carolinas are a lot nicer climate/geography wise than Texas. My fear is that after leaving the football environment at Clemson and then being at SMU, Chad has got to be thinking he is wandering through the desert and paying his dues right now as he awaits a call from Texas or A$M. We need to all be pulling for UT & A$M to finish strong and stick with their coaches for at least another year or two so Chad will finish the job he came here to do. I'd like to think Tech and Baylor don't have anywhere near the same appeal as the 2 flagship schools in Texas would have.
Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listCP, referring to the lack of Texas, lack of Whataburger, lack of Tex-Mex culture...have been to your fine state MANY times, including to watch 7 teenagers over the years finish recruit training at PI. Tigertown with church kids, toured through Cowpens and Kings Mountain with a group of high school kids per Revolutionary War college credit class, Civil War at Charleston and through Sherman's march in 1864. It was a summer class I helped teach as an adjunct....thoroghly loved the bountiful history and the great food and folks....but the heat and humidity were worse than my then resident state of central Florida.
No offense was intended...merely making the observation that for a Texas bred coach, everything beyond the Rio Grande, Red River, Sabine, and New Mexico is 'Injun country' or 'desert' regarding Texas culture. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listIf Texas pays the 15 1/2 million buy out for Strong, which I doubt they will, I would think they would look for more experience than Chad.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listyeah Chad not ready for a UT or A&M job-yet-he'd have to win 2 Conference Championships and get SMU into Championship Playoff first or damn close to it

Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listOlejacket knows what he is talking about. Chad ain't going to Baylor.
Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listOlejacketfan seems way to wired in to dispute.
I'll follow his lead and believe that HCCM is here for the next few years. Pony 81
Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listIf Chad is patient he's going to be able to get a much better job than Baylor. While there may not be sweeping sanctions from the NCAA, the Dept of Justice and Dept of Education are going to be hanging around Baylor for a long, long time. Combine that with the fact that there is a large faction of influential alumni who are actively at war with the BoR and the situation at Baylor really is about as bad as anything I've seen in the last 15-20 years.
2017 is set up to be the breakout year for SMU if we can get Sutton to come back for his junior year. We will be a 35-40 PPG offense and defensively we should be deeper and more athletic. There is no reason to think we can't win 7-9 games next year. If we do that then Chad Morris is going to be one of the hottest commodities on the market. I just don't see why he leaves for Baylor unless they give him a 10 year deal fully guaranteed at the same salary Briles was getting. That situation is going to be toxic for a long time and as a young-ish head coach Morris needs to be careful. He can do much better than Baylor after a big 2017 season at SMU. Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: BU reportedly has Herman and Morris at top of their listOLDJACKETFAN are you the one and only OLDJACKETDAD who used to post on Codys board in the Ville? If so you used to shake those cans full of marbles. I know you if so.
