Meachum isn't a bad candidate at all.

The coaching search has "unofficially" started.

Ok I see what you are saying....we'll see what happens...I hope Chad at least stays another year or two.

What really scares me is watching Chad's wife sitting on the 50 yard line Saturday night, on a near perfect football weather night, it's an exciting game....and the crowd was abysmal....I mean an embarrassing crowd on a night we could become bowl eligible. I know it's a catch-22 with attendance, but the ridiculous turnouts must weigh on SMU coaches when they look up in the stands in the 2nd halves of games. It's sad man....

I'm not saying it's impossible, but is Baylor really looking for a guy with 7 collegiate wins to his name? If they hire Chad they are basically hiring him for his reputation as a coordinator and not a head coach.

Do they look in the stands when their checks clear? JJ sure didn't mind.

Of course no analogy is 100% exactly the same, but
Kids have dreams of playing in major conferences in full new stadiums.
Is Baylor going to compete with Bama? Uh duh no...they don't have too.
Penn State had a catastrophic scandal...in some ways worse than Baylor.
A Penn State coach raping children in athletic showers vs players raping an adult.
Both horrible....both attempted cover-ups....one cover-up for many years.
Penn State has bounced back after predictions of doom.
Baylor just built a new stadium....
If you think Baylor doesn't survive this with a new high paid coach....
I think you are dreaming.
Quit letting jealousy blind you because they got in the conference & we got death.

Will baylor "survive"? Yes. Will they be he bottom dweller of the first P5 conference to implode? Yes. Do people expect more moral behavior from the flagship Baptist university than a big state univiersity? Yes. Jealous of a 3rd rate school in a 4th rate town? Not so much. If I change my font color is it the same as typing in capitals? Maybe.

Baylor’s first call when Jim Grobe officially moves on will be to Chad Morris. The former Lake Travis head coach and Clemson offensive coordinator is currently working a miracle in Year 2 at SMU. It will require a program like Baylor to pony up a large sum of money, but Morris has had success at each of his coaching stops.

To get to 5 wins and beat Houston with the mess the JJ left him is almost a miracle.

As many have posted before, losing HCCM is a Cadillac problem. We haven't lost a coach to another school in over 30 years.... He will be leaving us on the upswing, we pay top $ AAC salaries, we have a competent AD, (three things we haven't had until HCCM) so we should be able to identify and attract a good coach to grow the program and keep the ball rolling.

As long as we are G5 and don't have the fan support to generate serious revenue - we will be a stepping stone job. Which is OK as long as we can win in the AAC.

So Chad Morris will be the first SMU coach to move on to another college and not on to a high school? If so, good for him. That's progress for SMU after 30 years.

Don't disagree with any of this; it makes lots of sense. I just wish that it could've been ANY OTHER SCHOOL but Baylor. The whole thing just shakes my faith in humanity and basic decency. That GD program should be nuked. The NCAA should find new and creative ways to enforce Lack of Institutional Control and make it impossible to recruit there. All revenue for the next decade should be forfeited and donated to the women's support group of the victims' choosing. Instead, they basically get off without a scratch, most of the folks who enabled the culture of covering up gang rapes are still employed, and we lose the first coach since I was 6 years old that gave me any hope that SMU football could not only be watchable but actually RELEVANT again. Happy Thanksgiving, Mustang fans: here's your annual Fall kick in the groin!
