He's lived in Clemson and Stephenville so parts of Waco are probably comparable. And he's apparently a Baptist?

I've heard him comment about how hard it is to recruit against two Big 12 private universities within 100 miles.

He beat the Coogs!!

Was #16 his recruit?

16 was not, he was a June recruit at Safety.

Clemson is exactly like Waco except Clemson is nice and Waco is like a cesspool.

Did he ever promise he wouldn't leave?

No, I meant not honoring the commitment he made to his recruits and jumping to a job like Baylor. Everybody can understand jumping even after only 1 year if it is to a storied and elite program, but Baylor?

I have no problem with him leaving although I wish he would not. Just hate that we may lose some good recruits late in the process.

It isn't like this 2017 was a bunch of world beaters. Cade Brewer and Alan Ali look like big time players but aside from that I'm not too worried.

If its so easy to just grab another up and coming assistant to replace Chad then why wouldn't Baylor do it?

If this turns out to be true it will be a big step back no matter how you want to spin it.

LOL. No it is not. For the first time since Reagan's first term an SMU football coach is leaving for greener pastures. Does it suck that the greener pasture is filled with cow turds in Waco? Yes. But the reality is the perception of the SMU head coaching position is light years better than at any point in my lifetime.

If we want to keep this thing going with consistency we can offer the job to Malone. The defense has made tremendous strides this year and Malone is a dynamite recruiter. You'd probably be able to keep Craddock if you promote him to Assistant HC as well. If you want to go in a different direction we can go out and get the top OC/DC at any school in the country. You want a proven HC? There are probably some out there right now calling their agents asking about the SMU job. None of that would've happened 10 years ago.

It hurts to lose Chad but the future is incredibly bright.

While all of this is true, it's just another example of SMU fandom getting kicked in the balls when everything is looking bright.

Good grief. We're losing a coach that is 7-17. We didn't just lose Nick Saban.

Our future is still bright only because SMU finally made a serious commitment to football when they hired Chad and that is a huge positive. Losing Chad will still be a step backwards and you are in denial if you don't believe that.

We were going to win 9 games at a minimum next year. Now...not so much. Him gutting this class and us replacing it with strays is going to set us back. AGAIN. Our program desperately needs stability. Patterson has been at TCU forever, Briles was at Baylor from 2008-2016. We need a coach who is willing to put in the time. If we recycle every 2-3 years we will never be better than a 7 win team.

So after seeing progress with that commitment to Chad Morris we are suddenly going to do a total 180 and uncommit? Get real. The guy was a great recruiter but a terrible game day coach. I'll take my chances that Hart can see the positives of Chad and try to balance that with a guy that isn't the NCAA equivalent of Norv Turner.
