How did that work out for TCU's Coach Fran? Greed is a nasty sidekick.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Hey come on guys, once we get the new guy giving his acceptance speech, promising "to finish what Chad started", Turner up there grinning ear to ear, blah blah...we'll take the bait again. Because we love SMU football.
However do I have the right to cringe the first time we here:
"but, but we have to give the new guy just 2-3 years to get his own guys in place and then we'll be good again".
In fact I just may need to have my SMU casket etched with the words "wait til next year".
The next coach isn't inhering the worst assemblage of D1A football talent in recent college football history like Morris did. The job won't be nearly as daunting.
That may depend on how many players stay, how many recruits we lose and how many transfer. We could easily be back to the talent level of a couple of yrs ago.
I just don't believe Morris will go to Baylor. Perhaps a few other schools, but not Baylor. I have said that all along. I think Morris will continue to develop this SMU team for at least another year or two.
If he does go somewhere else my biggest concern is what happens to our coming recruiting class? I am very excited about that class. And next year should find a much better team on the field.
even the rumor of him possibly leaving could impact this class as some might be concerned that he will leave after next year and they would be left in the lurch.

If/When it is official we need to have an appreciation thread for what Chad did for this school. He took a huge risk inheriting a dumpster fire and has given this program hope going forward.
If anybody is clueless enough to blame Turner for not funding the IPF out the endowment just remember that is logically impossible since withdrawing money from the Endowment is not a Presidential level decision-its not like they give Turner checks he can write on his Hillcrest State Bank deposit account. If you are blaming Turner-you are blaming the Board who approves the budget and controls the financial strings of the university.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
