Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?I would think that a coach with integrity would tell his players straight up what his intentions are: "Gentlemen, I am leaving for Baylor." or "Gentleman, I have no intention of leaving SMU and will be your coach next year." Letting all this speculation fly around is demeaning to the players, the fans, SMU, and the coach himself.
Long live Inez Perez!
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this? Not if the deal had not been officially signed yet.

Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?Integrity and loyalty in this day and age of College Football, forget it! All about the almighty buck. I must admit that Patterson has risen in my estimation for hanging with TCU. And Snyder at Kansas State, etc. Thank you so much ESpin.
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?As much as I dislike tcwho I must admit that I admire Patterson for being loyal and staying with their program. I am sure he could have left for a lot more money. I do wonder if he has several bad years if the school will be as loyal to him.
Thought we might have gotten the same type of quality individual but was mistaken again.
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?
Yes, unfortunately. Long live Inez Perez!
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?Paul Finebaum on ESPN wondered why anyone would want to go coach at Baylor now as it's problems are not going away for quite awhile.
Long live Inez Perez!
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?
Patterson did not have to haggle over things at TCU like he would have had to do at SMU. While I think the SMU administration is somewhat committed they are not as committed as TCU during their non P5 time. Last edited by Rebel10 on Wed Nov 23, 2016 6:07 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?I knew he would leave sometime if successful. I was hoping for another year or two. I do not blame him for leaving now, but since he only had one full term recruiting class I sure would have liked to get our current one in the stable before he left. I am afraid we will lose a lot of them with little time and few available to sign.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?totally agree. guess we will be hearing the 'one or two more recruiting classes' story again.
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?
And to add insult to injury- one of the key people responsible for getting Patterson as HC and moving their fb program forward was an SMU grad.
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?
Yup, that's what happens when you change coaching staffs every 2 - 5 years. May the forth be with us.
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?Hahaha "integrity" and "football coach" in the same thought...
But yeah he should just come clean and start packing and let somebody else coach Saturday. More and more stuff is just gonna leak and it's gonna turn ugly. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?you have to wonder how the players are reacting and what kind of performance we will see against Navy.
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?
All my family and friends in Alabama are saying the same thing - this is just stupid.
Re: Wouldn't Integrity dictate this?
Apparently Finebaum is not familiar with SMU. #HammerDown
