Rewatched Froggy Game

Postby SmooBoy » Thu Dec 08, 2016 9:35 am

~Our ball handling was impressive. Milton and Gu shined in controlling midcourt and consistently breaking the press.

~Jarrey is a hell of an athlete and brings the same type of energy and athleticism as Ryan Manuel. If he can hit a few jumpers in addition to his drives, he provides another level.

~BMoore is Mr. Silky Smooth. He does all the right things on the boards, dishing assists, and being in the right spots. His fundamentals are a sight to see.

~Sterling has been a bit disappointing with his shot so far, and hope he can find some of last year's consistency. His ball handling and assists are good, but his game needs to step up.

~Gu looks more like his VaTech days. He seems determined and confident.

~If Shake and Semi hit their wide open threes, we blow out frogs by 25. They both had solid efforts, and ponies need their leadership each game.

~Aussies look a little lost, but think they'll both be contributing (a little) by January.

~Want to see more of McDowell. Sample size is too small to evaluate, but he 'looks' like he has something.

I re-watched as well after attending the game. The commentators on this game were so pro-froggie the entire game it was hard to listen to. Went on and on and on about their love for Dixon.

Love how at the end when we were blowing them out they said something like "It's clear that TCU is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the Big 12"

No mention of how SMU might be a top team in the AAC.

You would have thought that we lost the game if you were not actually watching the game.

Noticed all of that too. I forget his name, but the color commentator has done a few games and has never given us credit. His only credit is Moody and never losing there...10 times a game

didn't think they were very biased. gave SMU a lot of credit even tho we didn't play great for long stretches. I hate the argument, "if we hit our open 3's we'd blow them out." TCU had way more open 3's than we did that they missed, and the refs were clearly on our side. Goes both ways.. On a different night, this game goes down to the wire.

I don't think Dixon helped himself with his incessant whining. He never really coached, just bitched to the ref. Refs are people too - when you act like a Richard all night long - regardless of the call (good or bad) its going to effect the outcome - and not the way you want it to.

Very true. Frogs missed tons of wide open shots. Just used to seeing Shake (especially) use his stroke to consistently knock those down. Each game is different and I was simply happy with the win.

I re-watched as well.

Although we had some rough patches scoring-wise the intensity never waned. That is a very positive sign....especially on the defensive end. Way fewer "blow-bys" last night.

Different guys are going to carry us each game. I see that as a good thing as way too much responsibility was placed on Nic last year. He handled it well but we had a tough time on his off nights. Sterling and Ben carried us the last few games, last night it was Semi and Shake.

Gu is tough as nails and will be a huge part of if we are going to be successful.

Jarrey is perhaps the best recruiting find ever.....right off the clearance sale rack.

When the floor is spaced and all of these guys have room to maneuver it really is something to watch. If they play the way they did last night and clean up the loose ends we are a tourney team. Point guard by committee can work.

Fro will contribute but as many have said here he needs a year to get his body together before he really shines.

DaShawn can be a four year contributor...he has a fantastic court sense.

Reports of Mustang demise are premature.

And yeah...those announcers were annoying.

For those who watched on TV- Why did Dixon get the technical?

I still have no clue....(the announcers were busy telling us how good the Frogs can be) but also TCU got the ball after the tech.....????

Pretty sure Jank pulled off a friendly rivalry jab and purposely fouled to get walk-ons in. Dixon sarcastically smiled and clapped to the refs disliking

yeah - the bench clear was a shot across the bow - Jamie was "forced smiling", and the kids were on him pretty hard.

might have also been he was LIVING on the other side of his line the entire night and they warned him several times - I think they were just tired of his B.S.

My wife asked if we were watching the tcu broadcast. I couldn't stop laughing when they said tcu would be a force to be reconded with in the big 12.

I bet the mass substitution with 30 seconds left was irritating to Dixon. Substitutions like that are the basketball equivalent of the victory formation.

Good to see as Dixon was living outside the coaching box, complained to the refs the whole game to the exclusion of coaching his team during play, and that it juices the rivalry some.

Jank showed confidence in his team by writing a check ( the in your face move) that he knows his team will cash next year at TCU (by winning).

BTW: Loved our student body and their "cheering" directed at Dixon. But he's a Big East / ACC guy who has seen it all before.

During the rewatch I did notice the TCU bias but they did hand out some props to SMU so I wasn't too annoyed.
