Re: Tom Wilson transferring
One of the bigs will probably start and either Douglas or GU. #HammerDown
Re: Tom Wilson transferringCan't say I'm surprised given the lack of playing time.
God let's hope we can avoid injuries of any kind. #Groupof7 "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."

Re: Tom Wilson transferringThe announcers during the Albany game mentioned Sutton was going to join the team. I certainly would understand if he did not, but they sounded like they had confirmed he was.

Re: Tom Wilson transferring
Can't forget about my favorite Jimmy Whitt who I think is more likely to start than either of them.Douglas should give us good minutes as a frosh. And regarding the bigs I would be stunned if he didn't go find a JuCo big or grad transfer big that ends up starting. Even if not great experienced strong Big who can get on the boards, play D, and get a few putbacks. Sucks we are down to 7 again. Wish Wilson had stayed through the year. He would have gotten some Good minutes in a few fouls trouble games. I doubt anyone reads into it but don't love the look of having two mid-year transfers per year. Was surprised by Fro, not surprised by this except for the timing.
Re: Tom Wilson transferring
Ahem. Semi was a midseason transfer. Was he being a [deleted] too? I get that it's slightly different -- Duke was stacked and it's not like they needed bodies like we do. I don't like this. I think it is short sighted and misguided if they think they're going to find a better situation. If all they wanted was a semester abroad then it sure would have been nice to know that up front. But still. Can we put away the pitchforks and quit the name calling?
Re: Tom Wilson transferring1. Totally agree that the Australia experiment was a fail. What a waste of time, effort, and money. The 2016 recruiting class is now a bust, despite McDowell looking like someone who can really contribute.
2. I'm frankly not surprised that Tom is leaving. Kind of expected it after Harry left. Still disappointed though. 3. Watching Tom in the Stanford game, he looked very, very lost out there. If he expected to come in here and play big minutes, then he's not operating in reality. I think Tom would have to go to a mid-major doormat to see any significant playing time. 4. I hate that we are back to 7 players. Between the transfers and the guys LB recruited who we couldn't get into school, my head is spinning. So many of these guys are here today, gone tomorrow. 4 transfers in 2 years (plus at least 2 more we couldn't get into school)! I wish we could actually recruit and sign some guys who will stick around for more than a semester. It's exhausting. 5. Last year's "Magnificent 7" looked great. . . until they ran out of gas in the last 1/3 of the season. I expect the same thing to happen this year. 6. Having said all of that, Tom's transfer actually makes more sense to me than Harry's. Harry just needed to bide his time this year, and may well have started (or at least played significant minutes) next year. . .if for no other reason than that Ben Moore is graduating and we have no depth at forward. Tom, on the other hand, looks to be buried behind superior guards for at least the next 2 years. So it kind of makes sense from that perspective.
Re: Tom Wilson transferringYep. I figured Tom should transfer, because he was recieving very few minutes and would likely go down next year. Harry we have all discussed.
I'm not ragging a kid for transferring. It's usually the right choice for them if they don't fit in or aren't playing, but the fact that freshman (different from Semi) leave before they ever even played a conference game is silly to me. Stick out the year and see how the whole thing shapes out. Also you receive almost no advantage of mid- year transfer. You either sit out as long as Semi did or you waste two years of eligibility to play 2 half seasons. That being said I'm not going to hate on them for it. Hopefully we can stay healthy and better sustain the minutes this year.

Re: Tom Wilson transferringThere is no reset next year. We return Shake/Whitt/Gu/Jarrey and Semi as starters. Dashawn off the bench and 4 quality frosh. Add in a clutch and grind big, possibly another waterbug and we're right there. I'd honestly rather have the ships than Fro or Tom, especially if we're going for something in terms of playing style.
Re: Tom Wilson transferring
Force out Gu and sign another gaurd and big?
Re: Tom Wilson transferring
Don't think we are gonna force out Gu. Too much experience. For sure add another big (likely an older big) and as HoopManX said maybe another waterbug/quick guard. We will return our two best players if Semi and Shake are back and Jarrey has turned into a potential stud. That's a good core. If we can find a pretty good Big could be an exciting group.
