What's to concede? I don't have a crystal ball. But for argument's sake, if for some reason we only make the NIT this year and in three years Tulane makes the NIT, would 3 years be about right? I agree that we're definitely better now and should be for a while.

Given the relative quickness of turning around a BB program, I could easily see that Tulane could narrow the gap in a few years' time. That depends, of course, on Dunleav's recruiting prowess. But does it really make a difference whether it takes 2 or 4 years to narrow that gap?

My original point was that SMU athletics are not light years ahead of Tulane's and that there are more similarities than differences in the universities' respective athletic programs. We need to worry about ourselves and not besmirch Tulane or others in our conference. After all, we had to come from behind this year to win the FB game at Tulane, which has a first-year coach. And, I watched us lose at Tulane 3 years ago.

Losing to Boise is going to cost us an NCAA bid IF we do really well in aac play. At this point, I think we'll need to win it to get in. But I predict we'll lose 4-5 games in conf play (Houston, Cincy maybe twice, and another "surprise" loss like UFC) and be a 4-5 seed in the NIT.

Wow. Quite an optimistic post by you this early in the season. You usually have us totally defeated by this time.

You're just a ray of sunshine aren't you.

I don't get how you think if we go 14-4 in conference so 24-7 (before conference tourney) we don't get in the NCAA tournament. Much less a 4-5 seed in NIT. We would have an RPI of 25 and a good KenPom. We wouldn't be in the NIT we don't play in the Southland and we didn't lose to 4 McNese St's. One loss to a RPI top 150 Boise, which does sucks, doesn't keep us out of the tourney. If we had 9 or 10 loss sure, you might be right but come on man be better than this.

More accurate to say SMU's RPI is 48, is projected to be 38.5 and Tulane will have the most impact by the end of the season. Tulane currently has very little impact on smu's RPI.

I think TCU will end up having s huge RPI impact. If they tank in conference, it will hurt our rating, but if they hold their own, it would help us big time.
