New QB Commit

Post by mrydel »

Thank you. I was beginning to think he may have been injured all year.

What classification is La Porte and what type of competition do they play against?

LaPorte is a Greater Houston/Coastal traditional 6A powerhouse. In fact, LaPorte was eliminated from about the 3rd round of the 6A playoffs only by that incredible game by Friendswood's David Page (SMU commit) who ran for about 350 yards.

Shoot-out between Page and Upshaw:
Page: 324 yards rushing 80 passing=404 yards Total Offense
Upshaw; 184 yards rushing 218 passing=402 yards Total Offense

combined 508 yards rushing by QBs and a whopping 806 yards total offense from QBs

Looks like a good athlete, we'll see if he ultimately stays at the QB position.

But I repeat, why no 2016 stats?

They were in the very first post-how did you not see them?

I cannot even get it to open now but when I did it only had 2014 and 2015. That is how.

BTW Memphis lost their Offensive Coordinator Chip Long to Notre Dame the other day-hopefully that's a negative for them

It looks like he made a bit under 8 yards per carry (per my approximation). I wonder about his arm. Anyone know much about his abilities? Obviously he checked with SMU today before he switched schools. Thus, I feel sure he has the potential SMU is looking for.

Not to be negative but this doesn't sound like tremendous news or something to really balance out on losing Charlie. Hope I'm wrong

Great athlete that can pan out at QB in a couple of years or move to another position - can't teach fast... No incoming freshmen QB needs to play for a minimum of 2 years so run the practice squad for a couple of years to see if he can pan out. Not a replacement of Brewer, who is probably ready to go earlier, however he could turn out to be player later on.
