Man what a great time to be an SMU fan.
This might be the first time I've ever been encouraged by a loss.

As are their fans. They know they dodged a bullet..... Unconscious from 3, great home crowd, and it comes down to a rim out 3 for the win. If I'm Jank I'm hugging the guys with lots of love saying keep working hard and we win this conference. Pony 81
Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. Cinci
In basketball it all balances out. Our best player was 1-10 for 2 points. The game at Moody is probably going to take completely different shape but will probably end up being decided in the last 4 minutes regardless.
Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. CinciUC you are right it does balance out. But we are for sure trending up.
Lost a 2x POY, leading rebounder, and another team leader yet we are stil top tier AAC. As opposed to Texas who lost a similar talent and have fallen to the bottom of the barrel. I have all kind of respect for UC AND your coach. Great guy and he has a great program. But Jank and his crew have shown they are can rumble. Now if we can get Memphis, UH, and Temple to ball at your level.... Our conference will be even more fun. Pony 81

Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. Cinci
It was just another example of us missing a great look. Cinci made pretty much all but a few of their open looks, we missed a bunch.
Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. CinciThat was a great game to be at. 53 was really loud. Lots of students. Really proud of our guys. The missed shots around the rim hurt. A few of those dropping and we win. I think if both teams continue to play like this they both end up with one loss in conference play.
Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. Cinci
A career 34% 3PT shooter went 5-8 and SMU's 43% 3PT shooter went 2-7 off of 6 wide open looks. I don't think it balanced out at all in this game. And it is a big reason why I am not a fan of judging two teams off of a such a small sample size.
Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. CinciWe are going to wipe the bearcats off the floor at Moody
Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. CinciSuch a tough loss. We had a chance to steal one on the road. We should take them at Moody, but it will be another tough game.
We had 0 bench points. Gu was a ghost on the offensive end outside of missing a big open 3 and McDowell is so out of his element as a freshman. He has a long way to go to be a contributor. I LOVE our starting 5. We can win the conference this year or at least co-win it. I hope the guys remember this game and losing a close one and use it to drive themseleves going forward.
Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. CinciDaShawn actually made a nice drive to the basket-but then missed both FTs-he's done that in several recent games. I'd feel a lot better if he would knock those down. No turnovers

Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. Cinci
Just as frustrating as Jarrey's free throw shooting last year. I think DaShawn has a place on this team as a four year contributor...never a star....maybe never a starter...but a solid bench guy. We are going to be pretty deep out front next year. Young....but deep. Party at The Wopper!
Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. Cinci
DaShawn always flashes really impressive athleticism and he has great length. He scored all types of ways in high school. He is raw but he could definelty become a really good defender at a minimum if he works at it and learns the college game. People tend to underestimate how large the jump is from high school basketball to top 50 D1 college. It's not just the players that are better (which they are substantially) but also the execution and schemes is off the charts compared to high school and AAU.
