Jeez, are you jealous or something? Guru hasn't challenged a single post of yours, just offered insight based on what he's seen. I appreciate an opinion from someone who has seen players and has some experience analyzing them. Seems to me he's just offering another opinion. No need to be threatened.

No I look forward to Recruiting Gurus posts. I just think its funny that this particular poster bashes everything the recruiting services say about SMU's recruiting class but then he tells Recruiting Guru, a recruiting analyst, how much he likes his posts.

Perhaps it is because Recruiting Guru isn't in the habit of using his recruiting information to beat the same damn drum, day in and day out. You aren't just presenting facts, pal. You're advancing a political agenda.

And it is a very good, well reasoned and vital political agenda.

If the Stallion bashers on this sight would for just a moment read what he has to offer and combine that with the professional expertise we are fortunate to receive from Recruiting Guru, you might understand first why we are living in almost 2 decades of losing seasons and second why hopefully we are slowly but surely climbing out of the abyss and moving upward.

Hate Stallion if you must for his brashness and attitude coupled with a no hold back manner of talk, but the information that HE PAYS FOR and shares with us is appreciated by me. Also Pony Pride, thank you for your insight and hard work.

Stallion wrote:That makes a lot of sense. Recruiting Guru is a recruiting analyst-for all you know he does work for Rivals. Notice Recruiting Guru never gets into the game of comparing our recruits to other teams' recruits. You may not want to hear how Recruiting Guru stacks SMU recruits up against TCU's over the last 3 years. For all we know he's the guy at Rivals raising our recruits ratings several times each year after they commit to SMU.

You know, he might be, but at least we all know what you are and what you are not and what you know about our recruits, which is nothing more than what is on rivals. Sorry, no interest at all with what you have to say, never have, never will.

That is a very salient point, mrydel... we don't pay for Rivals, and Stallion is under no obligation to share what he has learned with us. It is to our bennefit that he does this - personally, I sometimes get aggravated by his drum beating, but he does have a very good point of view, and he wants to win just as badly as we all do. And I like the Rivals information he sends our way. Thank you.

That's another good one, stallion 'ol boy. With SMU's power and leverage with Rivals, I am sure this constantly happens.

I noticed on the TCU board that Rivals ahs raised a couple of their cimmitments in the past few days. TCU, like SMU, would like more of their commits to be to be raised a level or two. Stallion posted that he agrees with them and he would not be surprised if they are not elevated in "star" level soon.

Agreed completely. I've learned a ton from the man over the last few years and believe he's had a part in some of the positive changes we've seen the last few years. For that I'm thankful.

I also believe, however, that his "good, well reasoned and vital" agenda is, on balance, bad for SMU since he's constantly airing SMU dirty laundry out here in cyberspace where potential recruits, the casual fan, and even the die hard posters here are either turned away or forced into his cynical way of thinking. He is, in ways, the anti-fan.

mrydel wrote: Hate Stallion if you must...

Again, I don't hate the man, but let me also say this. The aforementioned disdain for the casual fan, the seeming hatred of anything resembling hope and loyalty, combined with his almost pathological inability to admit when he's wrong makes him an easy target for hatred.

Let me finish with this. He claims that cheerleaders are bad for SMU and he uses the term as a cut down. I claim that cheerleaders are EXACTLY what we need from our fans. It's their job. It's decidely NOT their job to criticize, moan, and complain 24/7. Again, take your [deleted] to the adminstration and have some sense for human nature, for fans needs to be, well, fans.

yep I was talking about two guys SMU wanted Alex Ibiloye(15-17 offers including 5 BCS offers) and Henry Nuitei(8-10) offers. Do you really have a problem with kids that get that many offers getting upgraded? I always say that the coaches are the paid experts in the recruiting business and their offers should mean more than Rivals' talent evaluators opinions.

Back to the Burley commit conversation... I'm so damned excited about this one I could spit.

Chase on one side, Burley on the other. Emmanuel Sanders and Columbus Givens in four reciever sets. (Hoping that Columbus can finally get over his case of the drops.)

No we just need someone to throw them the damn ball. Willis, anyone? And with D-Mart in the backfield it should mean some nice one-on-one/blown coverages for those guys outside.

Man if only Chris Phillips shoulder had healed... then I'd be so pumped about next year. But we've got Willis, and I've liked what I've seen from him. [Fingers crossed]

I think Givens atoned himself well late in the season. We just need him and his speed on the field more this year.

I would agree that we do have some solid WR players that we can put on the field. I'd also include Perllerin, Lowery and hopefully Henderson too. Now let's play these guys and open up the big play potential of the offense. We've got the offensive skill position players with the possible exception of the questionmark at QB to substantially improve the offense.

I think the bigger question than QB is the Offensive Line. Give any QB some time with the skill and speed we have and we should be able to move the ball and move it quickly. If our QB, experienced or not, has no time to set up, it does not matter who else we have on the outside. We are in a position to improve this year and I am sure hoping for it. I had wanted us to be in this position last year but I think we lost a year with the new OC coming in Bennett year 2. We do not have to be better than the BCS, just the CUSA.
