Re: How many signed so far
When you fill up with four and five star guys, it's hard to make room for threes. Nice problem to have.

Well, since you asked:
Ranked about 7-8th in the AAC, and in the 80's nationally, depending on who you ask. Anyone being honest would say this is certainly below where they would have expected Morris to be recruiting at this point in his tenure.
QB: Morris again lost his hand picked future QB as he flipped late, making this a yearly ritual now. Gillins and Upshaw athletes,
not QB's. Page a Collin Rock clone with no position, likely to fall by the wayside like Rock.
WR: Tiny school development project
OL: Very good
RB: TBD (small but speed to burn)
TE: Struck out, stud decommitted
DB: Average, with upside.
DE/DT: Terrible (except Ndukwe, who I believe got hurt). All undersized and lightly recruited.
LB: Terrible. 1 with very low level offers, the other 5'9 173lbs
Truth, don't hate!

LOL. I love how Collin Rock has "fallen by the wayside" in his redshirt freshman season. That's a special brand of stupid.

Re: How many signed so far
Given how little we lost to graduation/attrition... i expect this aspect, alone, to be worth a 1.5-win bump. we got the thing we needed the most. lots of other disappointments, but we've arrived at a very solid starting 22 (minus LBs i guess).footballdad wrote:OL: Very goodsmupony94 wrote:I want footballdad's analysis

Re: How many signed so far
Your analysis is asinine b/c of your blind hatred of a program that was too good for your fourth tier talent offspring.
Tyler Page = P5 offers
Alan Ali = P5 offers
Hayden Howerton = P5 offers
Judah Bell = P5 offer
D.J. Gillins = P5 offers (chose SMU over Ole Miss late)
Kayce Medlock = P5 offers
Matthew Huhn = P5 offers
Toby Ndukwe = P5 offers
Austin Upshaw = was committed to Memphis; flipped him from a conference rival; unanimous District MVP at the 6A level
Throw in P5 transfers Peavy, Quinn, and Epps that can play right away next year. This class would've been the best SMU class under any of the post DP coaches despite being small in numbers.

Re: How many signed so far
Losing the TE and the QB from Austin did not bother me that much. I know everyone on here loved them, but I will have an "I old you so" on the QB. He is not the right QB for our system - Chad just loved the family. The TE could produce at Texas, but there are faster options there for a p-5 so I would guess he will get recruited over. I think he made a mistake.
The one that hurts to me is the LB to Houston. We needed him bad, and he would have played for us earlier I would guess - so I don't really get his decision.
Pretty solid class due to the transfers. I think we will win 8 games next year - so hopefully that gives us a boost. Unfortunately 80% will be committed before they know about our momentum.

Now you'll magically use headlines like 'defensive mvp in championship game', or 'USA No.1 WR in catches..', to ignore offers, rankings, and all the other things you previously stated as most important......haha
Love it. You go ahead and provide the last word as always.
See you in the Spring.

Grrrrrrrr, why you mad son?

I didn't make up the lowly rankings for this class. Take your beef to 247, Scout, etc. The OL was very good, just like I said. DB's Ok. The rest weak.
Put whatever lipstick you want on this pig. See you in the Spring!

Re: How many signed so far
Bottom Line-Chad is going to Bowl in Year 3 and your son ain't on the Travel Squad
BTW I won that bet when I said in Year 1 that Darrell Colbert would never start a meaningful game at QB at the FBS level in his career-you criticized me for years about that but guess what I was right

16 out of SMU 22 recruits/transfers have been 3+ star on at least 1 major recruiting service

I'd probably use "Grrrrrrrr" on an internet message board too if I hung my entire existence on my kid that couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time. Man is the measure of all things I guess.
