I know most of these guys-I was one for all 4 years- in the best fraternity-they show up to look cool at a game when its the "Big deal' and that's about all-next week something else is cooler-they ain't particularly great fans after graduation either. I'm not convinced that being part of a fraternity has any correlation to being a better long term supporter of the SMU athletic program. I know very few from my Time Period that are even Season Ticket Holders-and that includes the 20-30 Football players who were members of my fraternity
I'll bite. Point system 2014-2017. Awful student attendance besides a few big games. Subdued. Boring. Empty student sections. No point system 2013-2014. Some of the most raucous crowds we've seen in Moody. Fraternities filled each end of the court and even some of the upper sections like 214A that used to be designated for students (now it's not bc they can't fill it). We used to complain that the fraternity guys wouldn't wear red, white or blue but would instead wear their letters. Little did we know, that was the least of our worries. It's plain and simple. Rules changed, atmosphere changed. The facts are there. Complain all you want about fraternities, but they bring the heat and make fools of themselves which we need badly.
Boo Hoo Its not difficult to qualify for tickets-all you need to do is support the SMU athletic program. Fraternities aren't ENTITLED special people. Athletics is one area where the entire school should come together and support SMU as one. I'd be against any special treatment of any group unless it is somehow based on support of the athletic department. Again 4 year fraternity member
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

I am all for making any individual entitled as long as they show up, act a fool, and make the other bench and staff regret not forfeiting

I have never and will never go to a tennis match, a soccer game, or a swim meet. It's not that I don't want to support them, I just have zero interest. Pretty sure 80% of the student body would agree. I don't think students should be penalized for that.

Cheerleaders were there, doing their normal back flips after a made free throw. Did a halftime routine as well.

Would you campout overnight in an SMU parking lot if you did not have to to get SMU tickets?

after all, student apathy towards athletics does eventually become alumni apathy towards athletics
