FWIW, here's his "explanation": I think SMU is awfully close, though I didn't technically drop them, as I didn't have them ranked last week.
But, I just need to see a bit more -- which I know to you may sound ridiculous. But they only have one win all year over a team in the top 30 of RPI, where at this point all the other teams in the top 25 have multiple. They were literally next on my list, if that helps.

One more reminder that even in basketball, the system is rigged. If someone would like to hand us a P5 invite, I'm sure we'd be glad to play 8-10 games per year against top 30 RPI squads.
We certainly pass the Top 25 eye test. He just can't be bothered to put his eyes on our product.

How can he see more? We don't play any top 50 teams left...

We really just need a monster non-conference schedule. At least one more team in our conference should have been a top 50 RPI team and Pitt or Stanford should have as well. That's 3 more games vs Top 50. We should have scheduled 3-4 more top 50 teams not from P5s.
I miss Troy Matthews.

Unfortunately, Michigan and USC turned out to be losses. Pitt was not as good this year. Schedule was fine, just you never know from one year to the next who is going to be dominant. A win over Michigan or USC and we'd be in top 15 easy.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Saint Mary's, VCU, Dayton are no-brainers to schedule.

This logic is pure silliness based on the fact that he has Cincy at 12. No one, and I mean no one, with any modicum of a basketball iq would conclude that Cincy is 14 spots better than SMU. There are only 3 real options here (and they aren't mutually exclusive). 1.) He is a simpleton 2.) He is incredibly lazy and doesn't pay attention to what is going on in college basketball 3.) He is intellectually dishonest and/or for whatever reason has an ax to grind. The real answer is probably a combination of 1 and 2 and he had to be intellectually dishonest to back into a rationalization for his vote. I don't care as much about the polls as most on this board, but this guy's explanation for his vote is as infuriating as it is moronic.

Arizona, Villanova, Purdue, NC State, Tennessee, Western Kentucky and Northern Iowa are in our early season tournament next year.
Thus - Look for Arizona, Villanova, Purdue, NC State, Tennessee, Western Kentucky and Northern Iowa to have a down years next year...

Clearly those pollsters haven't watched a minute of any of our games. It is very clear we can hang with anybody in the country with our 6 guys, especially at Moody
