Re: A Modest Lenten ProposalFor Lent I will not use the word Hades in any post. Oh, Hades, that's impossible!

Re: A Modest Lenten ProposalI can't quit anything for 40 days.
Re: A Modest Lenten ProposalVow to go 40 days without quitting anything.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: A Modest Lenten ProposalI'm Baptist. We don't celebrate lent because if it's something you should quit for 40 days, then you should quit.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: A Modest Lenten Proposal
I grew up Baptist - they never quit anything
Re: A Modest Lenten Proposal
Baptist girls were always the worst Shake It Off Moody
Re: A Modest Lenten Proposal
Same here, should get our fellow baptists to support smu athletics and not Baylor! Insert "this is fine" GIF
Re: A Modest Lenten Proposal
That's the point.... And what exactly are Baptist girls worst at doing....?
Re: A Modest Lenten Proposal
Holding their liquor.
Re: A Modest Lenten Proposal
In that context they were the best... Shake It Off Moody
Re: A Modest Lenten ProposalI almost cried watching the UCLA video...such awful memories. I feel terrible for all those guys and more importantly Yanick

Re: A Modest Lenten ProposalIt wasn't Yanick's fault...but I will say we let him get away with his bad habit of messing with balls heading downward ALL YEAR LONG. We talked about it on Ponyfans several times. In some ways I think it could have been avoided by coaching. Isn't the international goal tending rule different? Did that play a role in his habit
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: A Modest Lenten ProposalRegardless of it all, it wasn't a goal tend and Yanick put a lot of the blame on himself I think. That's something you carry with you for life.

Re: A Modest Lenten Proposal
You just met the wrong Baptist girl....mine is FINE. 30 years this Tuesday. Loves God and loves me. W. A. Criswell, pastor at FBC Dallas, in his famous "sex" sermon at First Baptist Church Dallas in 1978 remarked: "If you want lovin' till you can't walk, marry a Christian girl!" The church came apart at that. Mrs Criswell reportedly fainted in the pew. It was a hoot. Don't agree with much that old guy said, but he was spot-on regarding that one...At least in my experience.... stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: A Modest Lenten Proposal
You do realize that a Lenten sacrifice isn't about quitting a vice? It's about sacrificing something in your life (such as a leisure activity you enjoy) to recognize Jesus's sacrifices and build an appreciation for the abundance of God's gifts in our life. I ask because your statement seems to suggest an alternative understanding. But then, I'm not sure why we are even having this conversation on a sports message board.
