Re: UNT series extendedIt's a good deal for SMU, but it's Yuuuuuuge for nts, I mean, really Bigly. They will have a Super Bowl every season.

Re: UNT series extendedThis makes sense and rounds out the OOC schedule going forward. For all the reasons Stallion and others have articulated, the idea that we're going to get non-Big-12 P-5 programs to play road games at SMU has become less and less likely as the economics of college football have changed. UNT is not sexy, but this series makes sense for both sides.
Re: UNT series extendedStill don't understand why we took a payday against Michigan.
A low payday I believe as well. Some schools get over a million for a game
Re: UNT series extended
Some on this board have suggested no payday at all for playing at Michigan
Re: UNT series extendedExplain dropping Baylor 3 years ago and now scheduling Abilene CC????
Re: UNT series extended
No "might" about it. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: UNT series extended
I don't know about that. The Tulane game could be really full if we are playing for the Western division. Shake It Off Moody
Re: UNT series extended
Sure, provided we're 10-1 or 11-0 entering the game. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: UNT series extended
I could be wrong but I think it was Baylor who dropped us when the Big 12 went to a nine game round-robin conference schedule and they had to drop an OOC opponent. If that's at all true it highlights the issue we face - Baylor and no doubt TCU fans wonder why they are playing us as much as we wonder why we play UNT. People act like we have lots of options for favorable non-con opponents - we don't. We can either take payday P5 opponents like Michigan or easy wins where we are the ones paying out, like SHSU. The nonconference opponents where both our fans and their fans actually cares who wins and is an even platform is rare. UNT might be the only one about now.
Re: UNT series extendedI'd rather play UTEP as they bring more fans than UNT.
Or Rice, since we have 100 years of history of playing them.
Re: UNT series extended
I agree!
Re: UNT series extendedUNT brings at least 5k more fans than Rice ever did
Re: UNT series extended
3k more. But fewer than UTEP. My point is: If we are trying to get attendance, play UTEP. If we are trying to play a game against a team we have a history of playing, play Rice.
Re: UNT series extendedPiggybacking here rather than starting a new thread. I was checking in the Arkansas Stare OOC schedule. Seems they have taken a page from our old playbook. They play at Nebraska, Miami at home and us in Dallas along with UAPB which should be a cupcake although they play pretty good football. They will be a tough one for us.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: UNT series extendedif we beat unt it's a yawn. if we lose it's a disaster. game makes no sense.
