And, once again, WFAA Ch. 8 (the Bevo Corporation) leads with UT and all of the Big XII schools and TCU before showing SMU v Rice and then it was only about :15 worth of video. Duke v Georgetown got more airtime than the 'local' team.

I was going to make a comment that Lamont might be to Bamba what Old Pony (RIP) was to BHop. But I'd feel bad for piling on poor Lamont! Nice graciousness, sir, in admitting your myopia tonight...
Speaking of admitting faults, apologies to the guy in the black Corvette after the game. You did come a little close to brushing my 8 year old with your car, but I didn't mean to come quite as unglued as I did. It's been a long week!

The more SMU wins the more media coverage we will get...just because we beat Rice in OT doesn't mean we should get to go first in the local news in a big media market like Dallas. But, if we can continue to win and build up some expectations, our crowd will get bigger and the media will pay more attention to us. I remeber the days of Sasser and Davis, I think it was 2000, when we they were seniors and we were expected to win the WAC. Moody was consistently much more filled than it has been this year, and we got more coverage in the DMN as well.
I miss Troy Matthews.

News 8 had zero coverage on the hometown SMU boys! They did manage to cover the all of Big 12 teams, and our pals at TCU though! I did hear that we will get some coverage in the DMN Sunday! Mabey all of the calls and e-mails helped?

Wrong. Ch. 8 had about :15 of tonight's game...if you made it thru all of Big XII coverage and the TCU coverage then you saw it. But if you blinked, you missed it. It was sandwiched in between those games and the coverage of the Duke v Georgetown game.

I'm not ready to call Fall a star -- yet. But man, the potential is ginormous. He had 12 points tonight, but would have had close to 20 if a few fast breaks hadn't gotten fouled up (one pass that would have been another dunk hit a Rice guy in the knee, and Roberts (perhaps wisely) pulled up on two late breaks and simply ran the clock down.
I think the most exciting thing about the Bamba Fall phenomenon is what it could mean for recruiting. Fall is the kind of player that other players are going to WANT to play with. High school players are going to look at him and realize that this is a guy who can make an otherwise average team good enough to upset (or at least scare the hell out of) just about any team on the schedule. If I'm Coach Tubbs, Bamba Fall is the first person I mention when recruiting a player.

It is simple folks. Don't watch WFAA Ch. 8. I haven't watch big Dale's sports for over 15 years. Why do you think they have the lowest ratings in the Dallas market? They just don't get it. People don't care about the Big XII as much as WFAA thinks. And Ch 11? Derrick Harper is probably one of the worst sports announcers. Great guy, great BB player, but not a sportcaster.
It is ashame that I have to watch Ch 5 (a Fort Worth station) to get the best sports coverage of Dallas sports.
Just send 'da money.

Most of you on this board are probably too young to know that Lamont Cranston was the Shadow (old radio show - fairly recent movie) and "He
had leanred how to cloud his mind so that he couldn't see anybody."
That's why he didn't see all of Bamba's exploits vs. Rice.
Actually - the wording goes - "He had learned to cloud others minds to
that could not see him" (thus - the Shadow). This legitimate way is
why none of you could see Lamont At the game.
He must have clouded Rice's mind so that they couldn't see or stop Bamba. Way to go Mustangs. Great overtime period. Like many of you I would love to see us put a whole game together the way they played in OT

My favorite radio show of all time. Maybe Lamont clouded our minds to the extent we only dreamed we saw four power dunks by Bamba.
