SMU adds two junior front court talents...
By Van Coleman [email protected]

SMU Head Coach Jimmy Tubbs and his staff hit the daily double when two Texas juniors decided to become Mustangs...

According to sources close to the program and confirmed by the Dallas Morning News; the SMU Mustangs hit the daily double on Thursday with two of the Metroplex's top juniors when 6-8 bookend forwards Jonathan Sloan and Alex Malone commited to the Mustangs.

One of the top five scores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, 6-8 220-pound junior Jonathan Sloan has decided to end his recruiting early and has committed to SMU.

The mobile insider has been averaging 19.5 points and pulling down just over 9 boards an outing for Richardson, TX Pierce. He has a good set of hands and uses his feet to score on the blocks with regularity.

The second half of the bookend duo is 6-8 185-pound wing shooter Alex Malone of Mansfield, TX Timberview. The skilled big man has range to arc and solid tools to create dribble drive. he's averaging 14 points and 7 boards as a junior this winter.

This forward duo are the SMU Mustangs first two commitments in the Class of 2007

If that's accurate, he could be a dangerous threat.

I wish we could sign them now. It makes me nervous that we are going to have to make it through this season and the summer season before we get their names on the dotted line.

Sloan and Malone, does anyone know if these two have been offered by any other schools or if they are rated on either Scout or Rivals? Thanks, looking forward to seeing these two together on the court. Have these two ever played together before?

I agree, that is a little scary but we'll hope for the best.

They won't want to go anywhere. I am sure this summer they will practice with the SMU guys and they will feel very close to the team by the time they enroll in a few years.
I miss Troy Matthews.
