COACH BENNETT SAID TODAY THAT FORMER 2004 FIRST TEAM ALL STATE 5A LINEBACKER PETE FLEPS 6-2 225lbs. FROM SOUTHLAKE CARROLL HAS ENROLLED AT SMU AND WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE SPRING. Fleps was a 2004 First Team All State selection by the Texas Sports Writers Asso. and also First Team All District 5-5A in 2004. Also in 2004, Fleps was amoung 22 Lone Star Linebacker prospects at the Nike Training Camp where Fleps ranked 4th in the shuttle at 4.25, 6th among the 22 in the Bench Press with 21 Reps and 5th in the Vertical leap at 32" ! Sounds like a solid prospect. WELCOME to SMU PETE !

SLCarroll's coach, Todd Dodge, is widely considered something of a guru, right? Didn't former Stephenville (and current UHouston) coach Art Briles have the same sort of rep?
Who's the head coach at Stephenville (a.k.a. Zac Thomas High) now?

Impressive numbers, 6-2 225 with 4.5 speed at LB, most big name schools would take numbers like that any day. Fleps could play right away for us. Big pick up, so does this count as a scholarship? What is his status, walkon, greyshirt, ???

Quote from Coach Bennett " Pete is a guy we liked out of Southlake Carroll and we are really excited now" said Bennett. " He's gone from 205 pounds as a High School Senior to 225 pounds now and he's such a smart and mature player. He'll be a great addition to our defense."

Tulsa and Navy. The Baylor coaches told him they were going to offer, but he committed to SMU before that happened.

UH Coach Art Briles is the former coach of Stephenville who you are probably thinking of.

Stallion I think your reading comprehension is slipping, he said Briles was the coach and he asked who it is now. It makes me worry for your clients.
