His son is going to Tech. Not going to be on scholly until at least 2007, if then!
Obviously, SMU is not good enough for his son, because he could have done the same thing here.
What an [deleted]. He is no friend of SMU. He has completely turned his back on us, and he is one of the main culprits of us getting the DP.

Yeah, he could have come to SMU and watched the Texas Rangers or gone to Tech and played baseball.

Exactly. I wish we'd leave this decision alone.
He wasn't in our mix, and his best prospects may be in Baseball.
Good luck to lil James.

I believe it has been discussed on this board in the past that James was totally clean in the situation that led to the DP.

3putt! pull your head out. an 18 year old often doesn't go where his dad did and often for good reasons. we may not have even offered him. we don't have baseball he wants to play. he may just want to not stay in an all-american shadow. if you want to diss somebody who really hasn't done a thing to embarrass smu, well find a good reason.

Hey Three Putt.... Craig James was a great ALL AMERICAN at SMU! He will always be part of our SMU family. His son , who is really a good Baseball player, wants to go to where they have a Baseball Team also. So your point is Daddy should have forced him to go to......?

the reports I see are that he is a greyshirt football recruit entering in Jan 2007 but that's not official.

Wish I could tell my kids what to do. Normally, they do what they want to do. I imagine Craig's son is no different. The kid has to be happy with his choice. He chose another school. It happens all the time.

Come on Ponyte. We both tell our kids what to do, they just do not listen. Or is it that they automatically do the opposite?

Michael Carter, John Marshall, Russell Carter, Grady Burnette all had kids that did the same thing. Hmmm! Apparently Mustang Mania that was rampent during that era has been cured.

It's not like these guys were going to games when their dads played at SMU. Those teams are just "a part of Dad's past" to those players. Maybe they've heard stories, seen pictures and watched videotapes of their fathers -- I hope so.
We all know the saying "winning cures everything" .... if we start winning regularly (I'm not saying undefeated, but winning more than we lose) then it's the sons of former players who are young NOW who will grow up considering the idea of how cool it will be to play for Dad's alma mater.
Let's stop ripping the kid. He's going to Tech. Hope he gets a good education and enjoys trying to play football and baseball.

Whats the big deal - we did not want him for football. We don't have baseball.
Why someone would throw away a perectly good career path to get a degree from Tech is a different question, but it is not a big deal he is not going to SMU.
