These are the good old days. To win both the AAC tournament and season championship is historic.
Have we ever won a conference tournament and regular season?

Also the 87-88 SWC regular season and conference tournament with a win in the championship game against Baylor. My memory is getting bad but seems like one of the Baylor guards hit 6 threes and it was considered a lights out performance despite the fact that they lost.

David Wesley was the Baylor guard that had the 3-point Shoot-out with Kato Armstrong

Absolutely correct. Kato was a fun player to watch!

Many coaches hated the three point attempt back in those days. Now a credible 3 point threat can be a great equalizer and is a necessary offensive tool in more ways than the points themselves.

Larry Brown says that he hates the three point shot every interview. Glad JankyLeg embraced it. Wonder how LB would have run the team's offense without that part of the game?

Probably into a wall. We got lucky on the change. Love coach Brown - but this would not be his kind of team.

We would most likely still have both Aussies and a completely different style team.

The three point shot was slow to catch on in college hoops. In looking at the SMU/Notre Dame box score from our 1988 game, if I am reading it right, there were not any three point shots taken.

Looks like SMU made 2. The box score that pops up online is blank in the 3P/3PA lines, but the points per player can only add up if Carlton McKinney and Todd Alexander each made one. Your point is still valid, though.

What was Kato's line?
I just remember him driving to the rim on David Rivers every chance he got and either dishing or scoring. Didn't need the three's.

Just read the entire Game thread on Bearcat talk (slow day at work, alright) and it was really funny how they just didn't get why we weren't dead. They kept bringing it up over and over again.

Anyone else notice how Cronin seemed to know they were doomed at the start? Against UCONN he was a firery elf. Against us it was like he didnt care

Here's the link for the box score: http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/box ... -dame.htmlThank you, Dukie, for explaining the three point situation in the box score.
