I'm confused about the comments about Rhoades. Early on, he sounded like a pure qb prospect. Now people are talking about him as an athlete. Is he that fast? How fast? Ramon Flanigan fast?

Hoop Fan,
I think you may have it backwards. I believe Rhoades is being recruited as an "athlete". You know, he's one of those kids that plays QB in high school because he's the biggest, strongest, fastest, etc. on the team.
I just thought that given all the athletic DBs we have in the stable, he might make an interesting QB project because he has the arm, and he darn sure has the legs.
He's not Ramon fast, he's sub-4.4 fast! I don't think Flannigan could do that even back when he had goood knees.

We like him as a quarterback but he could play elsewhere if it is best for the team.

sub 4.4 fast huh? You didn't verify that from anything but hearsay because he has never run a verified time that would suggest he was that fast.

Did you verify that he didn't?

There are plenty of verified times on the internet on Rhoades.

I don't know, Ramon could cover a lot of ground in a hurry -- I sure remember him running away from a lot of folks.

I think the adreline rush when the fight or flight response kicks in gave him a few extra tenths when the line fell apart around him.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Heh - maybe you're right. If I had the Arkansas defensive line zeroing in on me, I might be able to pick up my 6.8-second 40 a little.

Except for that Arkansas player that broke him into tiny pieces on the first play from scrimmage in 1995.

Thanks to all of the coaches on this board for your input. Great stuff ponyfan. How can we lose a game next year with all of the great coaches on board with the Mustangs?
