1996-1997, before that 1992 I would think.

ponydawg wrote:True, but if I recall correctly he got thrown to the wolves his Freshman year having to go from Scout team to Starting QB. And the smu offense was a much BIGGER mess back then.

Excited to see them get after it.

Absolutely true. He was put in a bad position and it was hard to be successful. I was excited for the future watching him play. I'll go further, in the early games, he really was held back by the playcalling. I would be thrilled if he was the starter against Tech. My only point is that he has not shown enough, IMO, for people to be outraged that he is not the starting QB.

until I see someone better at qb in a mustang uniform with my own two eyes, I guess I will continue to wish Phillps was at the helm. Willis may make me forget all about Phillips, but I'm skeptical. Phillips was a big strong guy who could compete two years ago. No reason to think he cant mature and play at a higher level now.

Chris Phillips will not be given the opportunity to compete for the job. He doesn't have the qualities that Bennett saw in Tate Wallis, Tony Eckert and Chris Slater all of which threw for less than 46% in their last year at QB.

Just figured it out......Stallion reminds me of Simon from American Idol. Most of the time speaks the truth, but says it in such an arrogant way thay you want to spit in his face for not what he says, but how he says it.

I really don't care who wins the qb spot, just as long as they all get a shot and someone wins it out way before the Tech game.
Hate switching out QB's.

I hope Justin Willis, Eric Johnson, Jason Rowan, Zach Rhodes or Corey Slater is as good as Chris Slater, but the last time I saw him was in "Heathers."

Bennett has had a [deleted] QB situation at SMU. Some of his own creation and some is the fault of the "model" (*gasp*). I think it is funny that nothing was ever Cavan's fault, but yet Stallion likes to toss Bennett's name around. With Cavan, it was Pye, Pye, Pye; with Bennett, it is Bennett, Bennett, Bennett.

It is hard to get a quality QB to transfer in here because of the "model" (*gasp*, again), but that has now become Bennett's fault because his staff can't "close."

Geez you must not remember my famous critique of the great Class of 2000 recruited by Cavan in which I called SMU No Factor in Texas Recruiting under Cavan. Three years later you heard the same thing from Bennett and of course then it becomes the conventional wisdom of the exact same people who attacked me as they were signed. Four years later SMU went 0-12.

OK, so you offered your critique in 2000. Three years later (2003) we "heard the same thing from Bennett .... " and four years later we went 0-12. Four years after 2003 is 2007. How do you know what next year's record will be?

Your "famous critique...." Well, gee. What can I possibly say in response to that?

Come on people, stallion is a legend in his own mind. I often wonder which of his clients he is billing when he spends hours reading rivals, and hiding behind this webpage (which is supposed to be for SMU fans and how could stallion or anybody else that reads his crap even consider him a fan) criticizing every move anybody makes at the school. Now he is even accusing them of lying about the size of the recruits. I for one have had enough of his crap.

Sorry, that is the way I feel and if you don't like it, don't read it. You call me gutless but condone what stallion writes behind the shield of this webpage. Who is gutless? The guy won't even join the Mustang Club, and that is a fact.

Don't y'all find Stallion the least bit amusing? I mean seriously. Take his information for what it is, and thank him for it. I enjoy reading his posts. Some of you seem to take this guy a little too seriously, IMO.

This website would be SO much better if it wasn't for the [deleted] about Stallion by PonyFan and his group of sunshiners , and Stallion, jstang and their lectures about the model. We've heard it all before, enough already. Do us all a favor and take this crap to the street, it's really annoying trying to get real info when you jerk offs hijack every thread and have a [deleted] contest. To be honest you're both wrong...

To PonyFan and the sunshiners: SMU sucks, believe it or not it's not Stallion's fault we suck, you look like a child when you constantly berate him after every post. It would be amazing if you posted something worthwhile...and open your eyes we are terrible and we need something to remind us of that or we'll be stuck here forever. True fans can critique their team, otherwise they'll go mad.

To Stallion and the Pye haters: Give it a rest, if I read one more Stallion clone throw up a Pye model argument I'm going to sick Peruna on them. I think it's important people [deleted] about the current state of our athletic program, but try and be original. Also if you're not a part of the solution your a part of the problem, so [deleted] or get off the pot, in other words donate money and be involved. Since you spend so much time on here you obviously love SMU, so it will be in your best interest. This is unless you love being perpetually miserable.
