NBA Draft threadModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: NBA Draft threadMaybe this belongs on your question thread, LA, but I have a good question: If Sterling and Ben end up playing on the same NBA team, would it cause you to change your favorite NBA team? What if they also had Semi on that team?
Re: NBA Draft threadThe Mavs will always be my favorite regardless, but whatever team any of my Ponies end up on I will definitely root for. I just hope it is not the Spurs. Any team but the Spurs. I used to always cheer for the Clip when they had Q. He turned into a nice NBA player.

Re: NBA Draft threadYeah, I guess I'm in the same boat. I can say this for sure. If one team gets two of Semi, Ben, or Sterling I'm watching a lot of their games. Very little mathematical chance of that happening obviously.
Re: NBA Draft threadIt would be very cool. I think there is very good chance we have two players in the Association next season. Three would be fantastic. Also, keep an eye on Nic. I'm confident he will get an invite to a summer league team. He just needs to find the right situation.

Sterling Brown, SMU Brown was a vital piece of a very good SMU team. He’s the younger brother of ex-Laker Shannon Brown. And his body type and all-around offensive skill set gives him a pretty good chance to be drafted in the second round. The Chicago native averaged 13.4 points and shot 44.9% from three as a senior (45.1% career) in addition to 6.5 rebounds, three assists and 1.4 steals. Brown’s intelligence and craft are certainly intriguing, and he’s a strong set shooter who’s displayed comfort as a scorer in a variety of offensive scenarios. He can create his own shot and find others based off his know-how. There’s not much to knock about Brown’s all-around skill set other than the old “what does he do great” adage, and that he’s athletic but not elite in terms of explosiveness. It does help that at 6’5” with a 6’9” wingspan, Brown has the potential to guard a variety of players on the perimeter, and he’s built solidly at 225 pounds. There’s a little bit of boxiness to his frame which suggests he could even play some at the four in small lineups. Don’t expect him to put up huge scoring numbers or beat a ton of people to the rim, but he’s got a great chance to fill a role akin to what he did for SMU (and in terms of transitioning to the pros, that’s always a bonus).

21. Oklahoma City Thunder - Sterling Brown, SF, SMU OK, so this would be a bit of a reach. Brown didn’t even get invited to the combine and is projected to go No. 47 on DraftExpress. However, that No. 47 is up 12 spots from where he was last week. Everyone needs 3-&-D wings and Brown looks like one. He hit at least 44 percent of his threes in his last three years at SMU and also has good size at 6’6 with a 6’9.5 wingspan. He’s the younger brother of former Lakers guard Shannon Brown. 24. Utah Jazz - Semi Ojeleye, F, SMU Is Ojeleye a 3-&-D wing or an undersized stretch four? Either way, he’d help a Utah team that got good production out of veterans Boris Diaw and (especially) Joe Johnson this season. Those guys won’t be around forever. Ojeleye provides similar three-level scoring ability that should make him a good fit in Utah. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."

36. Semi Ojeleye | SMU | F | 6’7” | 235 | Jr. (22) Last Big Board: 30 A steadying force for SMU, Ojeleye broke out in his one season there after transferring from Duke. His strength and body control are tantalizing from an offensive standpoint, and he’s shown the ability to attack the rim and score inside and out. He’s not overly long and could run into some trouble trying to play bully-ball in the NBA, and also stands to prove himself defensively. He may not really be an NBA three. But as a small-ball power forward who can create mismatches with his athleticism and strength, Ojeleye has a chance to carve out a niche. 50. Sterling Brown | SMU | G/F | 6’5” | 225 | Sr. (22) Last Big Board: NR The younger brother of former Lakers guard Shannon Brown, Sterling put together a pretty complete senior season and has sleeper appeal as a three-and-D wing. He’s well-rounded skill wise, a consistent spot-up shooter and rebounder, and has strong awareness and intangibles on both sides of the ball. His 6’10” wingspan and strong frame present some potential to guard bigger players. Brown’s not elite when it comes to explosiveness or attacking off the dribble, but does enough things well to warrant an investment. Re: NBA Draft threadBen tweeted that he has several more workouts scheduled. Even if he doesn't get drafted at least teams are seeing him which could lead to a summer league invite. Only two more weeks until the draft.

Re: NBA Draft threadThis has Charlotte taking Semi Ojeleye and Utah taking Sterling Brown -- both in the second round. I also read somewhere that a couple of teams, Indiana and Washington, were impressed with Ben Moore.
http://www.nbadraft.net/2017mock_draft According to the numbers Harry0569 posted, it looks like Semi and Sterling both got an inch shorter since college. ![]() "What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"

Re: NBA Draft thread
I heard a rumor floating around the combine that Semi was wearing lifts in his shoes... "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."

This guy wore lifts and look at the pic, his friends aren't happy
