you guys nailed it, we got nothing from Roberts and Pearson. When they play well, SMU is a dangerous team. They have been better the past few games, but then Roberts totally reverts tonight to 0-7 from the floor and 1-4 on free throws. The free throws all came with the game on the line in the last 4 minutes. He's better than that. Winning that one really could have jumped started the season.
None of us saw it, and the announcers sounded like it was a questionable (homer?) call. Sounded to me like Hop's scoring kept us in the game for most of the night. Can't bash him tonight.
I can't fault Bhop for missing a 3 pointer or that travel, sounded like a tough situation.
I wish Tubbs would have saved a timeout there, we called too many earlier in the second half and it came back to haunt us...need to have one left for the final seconds.
Don't think I was blaming it on anyone. JT put it best when he said collectively, the team played poorly. Scoreboard said 57-53, not 57-(bhop had double figures and 60% 3pointers, and Roberts and Pearson cost us but) 53. All the same, you'd like to think your Rivals.com 4 star player gets it done at the end. I don't think this is an unreasonable position to maintain. I think our two freshmen are moving up that learning curve very quickly. Rack still drives me crazy.
i had to attend a party - you guys didn't do play by play very well in the last couple of minutes
![]() where was callenstang? Ayala - 7 of 12 with 25 pts...what the hell? - i guess nobody was guarding him?? Yes, seems like Roberts and Pearson did their disappearing act again..looks like a very winnable game. What a shame. 11K in attendance...must be nice.
do we have a pattern developing with Pearson and Roberts? Very seldom do we play in front of large crowds. At OSU, Roberts was 3-11 from the field and Pearson 1-5 and had 6 turnovers. Pearson shot 1-11 at Memphis. In Roberts defense, he did hit all 3 of the shots he took against Memphis.
UTEP has a great home court advantage with the support they get from their students and local comunity. I know...they are the only game in town and that is a big part of the equation, but I still wish our guys enjoyed more support than our students and alumi provide.
CP, Put yourself in the shoes of the casual fan, why on earth would they want to support a perpetual loser. As for alumni, those who are sports fans know this administration is not truly supportive, so why bother? I use to tell people that during my 4 years of undergraduate school, no college won more football games than SMU, I have since stopped, it is too embarrassing.

That's what makes those of us who are still supporting this program among the most loyal fans in the country...I just wish there were more of us. Since moving to S.C., I've been amazed by the USC fans who are probably the most hard core I've ever seen. Until recently, they've generally "enjoyed" losing seasons and very few bowl games, but they turn out in droves to support their Gamec-ocks. I don't believe any program in the country would do what they did about 5-6 yrs ago, i.e., they went 0-11 but sold out every game (I will admit plenty of good seats were aailable by the 2nd half in most of those games). These fans have absolutely mastered tailgating. I'd be happy if SMU had 20,000 diehard football and 5,000 basketball fans
