In the Spring game: Peavy was 16 for 18 for 173 yards and 2 TD's including a 58 yard TD pass Hicks was 11 for 17 for 114 yards and a score on what was a very windy day in Dallas.
Exclude the 58 yard outlier and you get: Peavy 15/17 for 115 Hicks 11 / 17 for 114
To take it a step further take out peavys 15 completions and hicks 11 and you have: Peavy 0-2 for 0 yards Hicks 0-6 for 0 yards malonish wrote:PonySnob wrote:JasonB wrote:I thought both Hicks and Peavy struggled in the spring. Hicks has had three spring sessions, and is going into his third training camp. He has a bigly advantage, on knowing the offense and our personnel. Unless he gets arrested or kidnapped, he will be the opening day starter. Since he was Chad's first prized pig, he will lose the job... when even Stevie Wonder can see it. But, I also expect to see all three qb's play in September. Remember the season opener at nts last year, it was scripted; that Hicks would come in on the 3rd series.

Hicks has the experience no doubt but he is not as talented as the other 2.

Was it Gillens who was rehabbing a knee during spring practice? Is he full speed now?

Gillins has never proven anything in an actual D1 College football game, so there is plenty of doubt, especially with his arm. His legs and running ability are the only thing that is 'no doubt' better than Hicks at this point.

We're predicted to get 5th in the AAC west. I would rather try to catch fire with Peavy or Gillens than roll through in 5th place ranked #100 with Hicks.

The one thing that never changes in football. The #2 QB is always better.

I think, as someone said, you'll see all 3 at SFA. Hicks to start, hopefully we go up a couple of scores in first half, then Peavy (3rd quarter) then Gillens to close it out. I could see us doing something similar with the North Texas game. Maybe even a more frequent rotation. That, plus summer and fall camp, should give the coaches who to go to. Assuming no injuries, it's a good "problem" to have. I can't image Peavy and Gillens coming here though and sitting on the bench. Hicks has plenty of years left and his time will come if he gets moved to 2nd or 3rd string at some point this year.

Prediction: If Hicks gets beat out as the Starter-he'll transfer before the first day of Class
