OR finish out the year at smu, get his degree early, and move on as a grad transfer with no need to sit out for a season.

Re: Who will be the starting QB for the openerI don't see hate. He just seems to lack the mobility needed for a Morris offense. Maybe he will improve in that area this year and do fine. But I say again, the best player on the team in the eyes of most fans is the QB on the bench.

Re: Who will be the starting QB for the openerI have no issues with Hicks. He was young last year and ended the year playing very well IMHO. He has a lot of maturing to do (mentally/emotionally) but he shouldn't be judged on that from last year (again, he was young and thrown into the fire and showed tremendous toughness). If he continues to improve there, I'd be very comfortable with him as the starter. I'm very intrigued by Gillens though. And Peavey seems to certainly have the maturity needed.
Re: Who will be the starting QB for the openerWe've got the old "good problem to have" situation. Hicks looked solid to me last year, especially as the season went on. If we've got guys who are truly better, fantastic.
Re: Who will be the starting QB for the openerIf we have Hicks who had most of last year to get into it, spring/summer to improve and be pushed by transfers then great. If the transfers are better than that version of Ben then great. It's all an improvement.

Re: Who will be the starting QB for the opener
Well first of all he isn't very good. Secondly, he is a whiner about himself on twitter. Can't take any criticism with passive aggressive attacks. I can't stand him, offensive lineman are faster. One last thing, this offense must have the run threat end of story. If you think he leads us anywhere you just don't understand the game and this offense.
Re: Who will be the starting QB for the openerHicks will continue the great tradition of former SMU QBs at Eastern Washington.

Re: Who will be the starting QB for the opener
I haven't looked at his twitter, but that is not a very good quality for a P6 QB. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Who will be the starting QB for the openerJust don't understand the Ben hate. If someone outplays him, fine. But show me better first.
Derail the Frogs!
Re: Who will be the starting QB for the openerBad body language. He's got a tough road with the Tebow attitude of Peavey and athleticism of Gillens. You'll see better by Labor Day.
Re: Who will be the starting QB for the openerHicks seems to have a hard time throwing a spiral. He also throws a lot passes to the other team, usually in our end zone. My guess Gillens was brought in to be starting QB. Probably before mid season.
Re: Who will be the starting QB for the openerWould guess that peavey would take the starting job, probably after the TCU game where after Hicks faces some real competition and cant handle the pressure once peavey is starting gillens is used as a duel threat in the redzone to finish drives
Re: Who will be the starting QB for the openerIn Hicks last 4 games including the 3 best teams in the AAC, Hicks was a 60% passer with 8 TDs and 4 Ints. He also played well against other good teams taking SMU into OT at Tulsa and upsetting UH. We'll be fine with Hicks at QB or Peavey or Gillens if he can learn the offense and start over the other 2 guys. Just got finished watching Lance Mcillhenny beat UT in 1980. Not sure he completed a pass in his debut as a freshman. You guys are expecting way too much out of a freshman QB. The 8th best year in SMU History (over 2900 yards) is not bad for a debut
