New Defensive Tackle?

Postby 50's PONY » Wed Jan 25, 2006 2:15 pm

Don't know if this is correct or not but this morning's Star-Telegram listed Kyle Degroat 6'1" 253 lb defensive tackle from Dallas Carter as having committed to SMU.

I've heard the same thing, that he is a commitment. I know nothing about him, but that seems light for a DT. Surely he has to be a grayshirt, right?

give him some of Phil Bennett's growing beans and I gurantee you he will be listed at 6-1.

Oh, so you've seen him up close? How tall is he?
I'm not challenging you -- if you have something that suggests he's shorter, cool. Just curious where you get that, or if it's innate skepticism.

Get off this, please. No other organization in the history of sports ever misrepresented the physical attributes of a player EXCEPT PHIL BENNETT. I am surprised he doesn't get fired over this issue. I am sure that no other coach in Division IA ever lists a player differently than at the Nike camp. Plus, we are talking about HS seniors, here; it is a scientific fact that kids do not grow or add weight as high school.

Seriously, if I thought for one moment that there was a school or pro team in the US or the world that didn't do this, I would give a [deleted].

Okay, this is going to sound odd, but is this the super secret guy I heard about a long, long time ago? A birdie had told me about a player that we were in on that was very hush-hush?

If it isn't him, then did we miss out on that guy? People "in the know" were pretty excited about it...

True. And you acknowledge it. It becomes a problem when you don't acknowledge it. Like when people actually believe a recruit grew 3 inches and gained 40 pounds over a summer.

The two I'd heard about play other positions, and I've heard nothing recently on either. I would think we're done.

this is noteworthy if nothing other than its a DISD kid from a power program. Besides Darren Johnson, I dont think we have any other DISD kids.

Is that really true? Johnson's the only other one? This might be a more important signing than we think, then.

Hey 50's, is DeGroat on the FWST's list of top area guys? I couldn't find the link on their site.
Anyone know? Thanks

Corso,
He is not on their list. Their list does NOT include any of the DISD schools.
