Re: The Doak Walker Story
It hurts to be reminded how good SMU's football program used to be but that was long before TV took over. What REALLY hurts is that SMU's administration failed miserably to recognize how important football was to the University in today's world

Love this video, shows how he was recruited at 5:00 minute mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8fy1QsucS8. Just goes to show you how important recruiting has ALWAYS been and the stops you have to pull out. It's funny how the best teams tend to have the best players LOL.

Re: The Doak Walker Story
Thank you for posting. When I went to SMU in 1955, assemblies of Freshmen were told of the exploits of The Doaker and the 1949 game with Notre Dame where Doak couldn't lpay but Kyle Rote, filling in for Doak, almost beat the Irish. A helluva team with Doak and Kyle!
Long live Inez Perez!

Video narrator was the long-time voice of the Mustang Band, Bill Melton!
