in my 22 yearsModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: in my 22 yearsInexcusable - was a major turning point in the game. Just needed 1 of the 6 defenders to jump and knock down the ball!
Re: in my 22 yearsto the Morris defenders why was Courtland not standing at the goal line? Please tell me.

Re: in my 22 yearsYou are a foolish coach if you are taking fundamental for granted.
What we saw was of a simultaneous screwup by six players, it was a unit who didn't have a clear plan of what to do. Maybe they practiced this, maybe. Or, but they obviously didn't know where they should position themselves or what to do.
Re: in my 22 yearsNo defender left their feet. Just horrible execution. Ridiculously bad defense.
Derail the Frogs!
Re: in my 22 yearsthe execution doesn't matter. the fact that Sutton was not in the game and at the goal line is inexcusable. Ask any football coach.

Re: in my 22 years
Midway through the 3rd we were only down by 6 and yes without this awful play by the DB's we would have been up. We have plenty of DB's able to make this play and don't need Courtland here, they just didn't make the play. Young guys making mistakes. #Beat Clemson
Re: in my 22 yearsour HC failed us seriously.

Re: in my 22 years
That is a completely uninformed opinion...if you wanted to complain about areas that coaching could have been better you could point to play calling after a couple of those TO's we got, we weren't aggressive enough thus not capitalizing to press our advantage. I also thought our plan to pressure Hill was bad and why he picked us apart. #Beat Clemson
Re: in my 22 yearsLOL at the people blaming Chad for not having Courtland back there as a deep safety- if he pulls a hammy leaping up to knockdown a halftime Hail Mary you same guys would crucify Chad

Dreadful. Something every player learned in middle school. Inexcusable and totally changed the game. I was literally sick to my stomach at that point. Shake It Off Moody

Re: in my 22 yearsStallion is right on this one. Why would you put an offensive player in to defend against a pass play? Would you expect him to know better to get in front of a pass then a defensive player? There were six defensive players standing and watching...all experienced to play defense...all chosen to defend against passes...all recruited by SMU because of their skills and ability. Sutton plays offense now. Would he have done better? Probably...but so would have the water boy. If I was still a high school coach especially on a weak team I might well have put Sutton in. But, he is not trained to be a defensive back any more. If I was HC I would be wondering what happened to the players that are so highly skilled and trained and stood on the ground watching the game from the end zone.
Re: in my 22 years
but remember that Courtland was a safety when he 1st arrived on campus
