Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think? Some of Jason's points really jump out at you when you watch the replay. Wyatt and Onu are beasts. Sutton stepped up after being burned twice. Hicks was a 60% passer in the first half, and see what we did there. I would love to see him reach that goal in a whole game.
On the ArkState side, it would have been much closer if their QB had played the whole game. He is so accurate on his passes that it is scary. And have to admit we got some lucky breaks as we did with UNT. We are where we expected to be only better, but not where we want to be. BUT there's more hope than I've felt in a while and these kids ARE a family. That bodes well.
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think? How much is hope ?
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think?Missed the game due to my parents' 50th anniversary party, so I had a legit excuse. Sounds like I missed a good one.
My biggest question is what is the story on Wyatt? We can afford to lose him. Derail the Frogs!
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think?
Has the coaching staff addressed this at all? It's very strange.
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think? Both are playing on special teams, and Page is in there with the second WR group usually.
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think?
Have to give some credit to Van Malone. He ran a lot of a man/zone mix in the second half to give Sutton help and left Wyatt isolated. That is why they went after Wyatt.
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think? It looks like we are all on pretty much the same page here when it comes to performance. We have an offense putting up some nice numbers even though we have a QB who really has no idea where the ball is going when he releases it and a kicker who has the same difficulty with his foot. We have a defense with some real stars, some potential and some meh.
3-1 is where I expected we'd be right now. That being said, future expectation is where we differ. WE may be able to hang with the better conference teams this season but unless Hicks' efficiency and defensive play pick up we're still only a minor bowl team at best. Improved? Yes. Better? Yes. A good team? Not yet. Go Ponies...please prove me wrong!! Party at The Wopper!
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think? We are a minor bowl team at best-too much weakness on defense to expect much more this year. Offensively, we're there-not really close yet on Defense. We've got holes all over our Defense that better teams will exploit. SMU's ball control-no turnovers-last nite kept the ASU offense off the field. I believe we controlled the ball 36 minutes last nite. A good offense puts less pressure on a team's defense. See TCU game for the opposite. Slow progress on defense-kind of like last year but you can't expect the defense to make the strides the Offense has because they aren't as talented.

Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think?Remember that asu took Nebraska to the end of the game...had a chance to tie that game and send it into overtime...this was a good win for us.
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think?UConn, Tulane, and Tulsa are all games we should expect to win at home.
Cincy is not a great team and is a winnable road game. Houston has taken a step back and is a game we should expect to compete in on the road. Navy and Memphis have both taken a step back, but are still good teams on the road. UCF looks great, but it is a home game and should be competitive. Our offensive and defensive improvements are enough to expect us to at least compete in all of those difficult games. Our expectation should be for at least a .500 conference season. As Morris says, this is a good football team. It is okay to expect something from them. IF Davis and Wyatt are healthy, we have a chance to be 7-1 going into the UCF game. Cincy and Houston have been "meh" so far this season, and Tulsa has looked bad. Just saying, there is a 50-50 chance of us getting to that point.
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think?I'm sticking with 7-5 and hoping for more!
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think?7 wins is a very good season IMHO (UConn, Tulsa, and Tulane with a surprise somewhere - would love it to be Houston). Want to compete with Memphis. Who knows, maybe UCF also. If our RBs continue to run like that and our defense can find their nuts, maybe we sneak in an 8th win somewhere, that would be awesome! Not expecting that, but you never know.
Re: SMU 3-1...So what do you think?
To have a 50% chance of winning 4 in a row implies an 84% chance of winning each game. Even if you assume 100% chance of beating UConn and Tulsa since they are home games, it implies a 71% chance of winning in Cincy and a 71% chance of winning in Houston. So, my question is, could you show your work behind your 50/50 estimate for us being 7-1?
