Definitely not drunk. Explain to me why Quinn was not targeted in the second half? From what I remember Proche had one reception and I think that he was only targeted once during the entire game. Hicks overthrows Sutton, underthrows Sutton, and stares down his receivers. We were fortunate that we played UCONN today...Their DBs were pretty bad. The only DBs that were worse were our DBs. This was UCONN, one of the worst teams in D1. SMU needs to make sure and make them look like one of the worst teams in D1. With Christian Davis, Eric Sutton, and Rodney Clemmons playing we have a long way to go. The art of tackling needs to be revisted for these guys. Expecting these guys to cover their shadow is probably asking way too much. Don’t we have a touted Freshman named Robinson that could be playing DB? Instead our coaches have him playing Special Teams. Another bad coaching decision. Happy that our Special Teams coverage teams have improved a little, but it would sure be nice if we had a DB that has some promise other than Wyatt. Wyatt is a good, not great CB, he seems to be in the right place at the right time. I recognize Wyatt did not play today. Don’t think that we are really significantly better when he does play. He is not a game changer. Too slow.

Did we rally need to burn redshirt years on Page and Medlock so they can play on the special teams?

We also burned a Redshirt by playing Robinson on Special Teams. Another poor coaching decision.

We are playing only about 6 Freshman-big whoop-ti-do and almost all are contributing on Special teams-an area we were [deleted] poor at last year. One of those freshman Shane Hailey caused a 4th Q fumble on a Kickoff and Delano Robinson recovered. Hailey had 10 tackles in the First 4 games-he's contributing on Special Teams and Defense. Delano Robinson and Medlock have also played in every game. Sometimes you need to fill gaps with freshman-6 is hardly a large number. I don't think they've burned a redshirt by a player that hasn't played in just about every game-meaning they planned it out before the season and stuck with it unlike June Jones. Medlock for example is needed on Special Teams with 4.4 speed. He was a Shutdown CB in high school too which is I' sure why they neede someone like him on Special Teams

Sorry for being honest here mrydel, but my expectations are a lot higher for our program... especially with a schedule of cupcakes so far. Happy that we won. We should be rolling North Texas, Arkansas State, and UCONN. SMU deserves better!

Beat Houston, Tulsa, Memphis, Navy by 3 TDs and maybe we could be headed in the right direction.

To moderate the Stallion v Wild Mustang debate:
UCONN is one of the worst teams in D1 and we made them look competent.
But we were the worst team in D1 3 yrs ago so we are definitely better.

Hicks did miss some wide open receivers .... He was throwing it high on many incompletions. He didn't look as accurate as one would hope against a poor team
But his stats are very good. 4 TDs and no INTs is very good.
Hicks doesn't pass the eyeball test. Too may overthrows on open receivers. Against a decent team and this is ugly.

I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. We won. But we are still a 7-5 team- which is a helluva lot better than 0-12, 1-11..... God those were horrible teams.

So I'm a happy fan because we are much better.

Happy that our Special Teams are better with Hailey, Robinson, and Medlock. Our Special Teams were definitely horrible last year. Just wish Hailey and Robinson could contribute as DBs. Not like Christian Davis, Eric Sutton, or Rodney Clemmons could start as DBs on any of the teams in The American. Burning Tyler Page’s Redshirt makes no sense. The kid is not playing and he is a baller.

Hailey is a LB and Robinson is a Star LB. Hailey is getting snaps on Defense

Excellent recap and summary, I couldn't have said it better. I like to add that yes Hicks looks like our QB1 who has decent stats but when it comes to crucial moments and drives to break it open he failed on a lot of passes or holding on to the ball too long. Honestly the biggest turning point was the mis-snap when it was a 1 TD game.

Also, I think Houston is a beatable teams. It's a road game which is tough but I think if our offense is working on both phases we can win. I think we can make Cincy wish we weren't their homecoming game.

Why is Hailey or Robinson not starting on Defense? I am sure that you are right about their positions. Just thought that I heard Coach Malone say that Robinson was either a Safety or a CB. Isn’t either better than Anthony Rhone? Why has OL Kadarius Smith not played this season? I thought that he Redshirted last year and showed lots of promise? Pursley was beat multiple times today.
