Wild Mustang wrote:Wow! You guys have a lot of time on your hands... That is hilarious Bringing up my posts from last season. Last season Hicks was horrible and yes I was calling for Freeman to be our QB. I stand behind those comments. If you watched Hicks last year I am surprised that you did not call for Freeman to replace Hicks. Last season Hicks was flat out terrible. You can ignore that if you want, but trying anyone else at QB would have been an upgrade in my opinion at the time. Last season Hicks threw so many interceptions that I found myself cringing every time that he dropped back to pass. You guys must have a short memory.
Wish that instead of taking the time to bring up posts from last season or talking about the "Pony Express Days" (that is unfortunately ancient history) or talking about the "June Jones Days" ... I wish that we could talk about this season. This season Ben Hicks has not won games for SMU. Fortunately other SMU Players have stepped up and helped SMU win games. If SMU had a servicable QB this season our offense could be unstoppable. Think about that.
It doesn't take a lot of free time to find and share an asinine post of yours.
The bigger question is, how did Morris whiff on not 1, but 2 Juco/transfer QB's that he brought in specifically to kick Hicks to the curb?
Even the most ardent Hicks fans know he's not the guy to take the team to an AAC championship. He's simply less bad than the rest of the QB's on the roster. Not a good sign.
Brought those two in while hicks was a backup freshman. Why would chad bring in two transfers to kick a qb without any game experience to the curb? You realize they all joined the team around the same time, right? That’s the most ridiculous statement you’ve made in a while.
Nothing wrong with Hicks, just needs a few adjustment to his throwing mechanics. Needs to work with a good qb coach that can work out the correct passing action for him.
First off, I don’t hate Hicks, I just don’t think he’s the answer, and no I’m not saying Gillens is either. Honestly I think this falls on Morris for not recruiting better.
Really? Were you expecting him to land another Deshaun Watson to a 1 win team with a half full stadium that plays in a conference called the American?
Chad Morris has done an incredible job of having to sell snow to Eskimos. This is the "turn the corner year". He is going to be recruiting kids to a winning team that played in one of the 50 spare bowls. Enjoy the ride.
The obstacles you mention lolla have not prevented CM from landing some outstanding WRs & RBs.
For whatever reasons, he has yet to find the same success at QB which is surprising given he is an offensive guru. We all know it’s not due to lack of effort.
Trying to think of the top 3 recruited QBs who committed to SMU over the past 30 years. Only 1 player comes to mind, Chris Phillips, who had an Arkansas offer and I believe was a Texas Top 100 athlete.
We all know that QB talent only emerges once SMU recruited QBs leave SMU. Talent is there, conditions are not. We’ve eliminated lights as an interfering variable.
