You do realize Wisconsin moved the guy to WR don't you. There's a long video (10 minutes) on the internet that shows him playing QB in the spring at Wisconsin that pretty clearly shows that he is extremely raw and couldn't read defenses over 4 spring practices. He really only went back to QB because the 2 QBs ahead of him were hurt during the spring. He played 1 game of JUCO before getting hurt. Didn't play in the spring. I think its pretty logical that the guy probably can't run the Offense. Adding a raw QB is subtraction by addition because it takes our best weapons away in Sutton, Quinn and Proche. That's exactly what Tulsa did with Chad President. No thanks.

You do realize that Wisonsin is not exactly QB University? Watching one 10 min video of a Wisconsin Spring Practice does not exactly show what he can or cannot do as an SMU QB.

Like I said, I am not sure who I would play because unfortunately none of us have truly had the opportunity to watch Peavy or Gillens run the SMU Offense. Maybe neither are good enough? I don't know. What I do know is Hicks is not good enough.

Funny thing is that I do see a lot of things in Hicks I wish would improve, but I have to believe the coaches think he is our best option. From what I heard about Peavy in the last few years I really wish he could get in some serious playing time but the coaches see all of them every day and I am willing to trust in them at this time. Hicks does lock in on his receivers but for those that do not know, when the Pony Express started, the option plays were not options but were precalled as to keep or pitch. It evolved into Lance becoming a great true option QB. So I am willing to let Hicks continue to grow with the system if Morris thinks that is best.

Actually if my memory serves correct he originally went to NC State and then transferred to Wisconsin. One QB does not make Wisconsin "QB University".

Regardless, this has nothing to do with SMU. And this definitely has nothing to do with how good Gillens is or is not. Looks like you guys just want to argue and put everyone else down for their football opinions. I will never understand that.

That's the kind of comment that shows how shallow your "expertise" is. What's a QB school? HaHa! What does that have to do with anything? Wisconsin is a Top 20 program and can pretty much out-recruit any non P-5 school for anybody they want about 90% of the time. Tell us all about our 2018 Recruiting Class-we out-recruiting any QB schools or RB schools? How about the LB schools? Just admit it-you don't know jack about the relative talent at any school on our schedule-we've won the games we should and lost two games on the road when we were 20 point underdogs and 10 point undergrounds by scores that were pretty much in line with what the oddsmakers predicted. Hardly a reason for hysterical whining-pretty much what the experts expected

Stallion,

Last week you take time to show us (in stats) just how great Hicks is. This week nothing? Come on man! Can we at least get a Hicks stats update for your favorite QB?

Maybe we could see a total of how many wins, losses, and how many interceptions that Hicks has thrown in the past 2 seasons. No, no, no let's change it up, how about a total of how many overthrown passes. Maybe how many red zone TDs? Maybe the number of missed wide open receivers? That is not fair. Maybe we could see the number of catchable passes? Don't forget to include the stats showing just how many games Hicks lost for us. Why not include just how many games that Hicks has won for us too? That sounds fair.

People have to be blind or full of hate to not recognize how much Hicks has improved since he was thrown to the wolves last season. Remember this is a kid Houston wanted and got interest from Michigan and Florida before signing with us. If we had a solid program and the benefit of an upperclassman starting at QB, Hicks would not even have seen the field until possibly next year. I'm just thankful we now have 3 guys on the roster who might be capable of guiding this offense, which has certainly been better than anything we saw from offensive guru JJ. Like everyone says, we don't know what the backups might be able to do, but our coaches are well paid to make decisions on who starts/plays and this is not a business where any coach is going to play a lesser player who could jeopardize that coach's career trajectory. I'm reasonably confident Coach Morris wants to ultimately be the HC at a program that has an opportunity to compete for a national championship.

So in your mind, only QBs win or lose games?

I never said that. Maybe your question is directed at Stallion? Stallion seems to be the expert on evaluating the performance of Ben Hicks. I defer to Stallion :)

I could have sworn you asked Stallion to tell you how many games Hicks has won and lost for SMU. Must have been a reading comprehension problem on my part.
