Hurry up offense makes one yardOur hurry up offense, after a big gain, is a gift for the opposing defense. 99% of the time, after a big gainer, we run up the middle. I'm sure every team we've played has their defense coached up to look for the up the middle run after we make a big play. Run it wide. Throw it down field. The second play after a big gain always seems to be 2nd and 9.
Re: Hurry up offense makes one yardI watched Auburn do the same thing last night. It is a good concept but I agree it has not produced the desired results yet. It could be we are not getting the play off quick enough or perhaps defenses have adjusted to this method.

Re: Hurry up offense makes one yard
It is not the method. It is the old fullback dive which surprises no one because we do it every time!
Re: Hurry up offense makes one yardI meant the method of RB dive. That is what Auburn did all night also. I am agreeing that they should mix it up some.

Re: Hurry up offense makes one yard
Gotya.
Re: Hurry up offense makes one yardI really felt the play calling in the entire second half was way too conservative and that their D coordinator game planned us better at half time. The only reason why the game was close at the end was due to the lack of offensive production when the D finally made some stops in the 3Q.

Re: Hurry up offense makes one yard
same could be said for both teams
Re: Hurry up offense makes one yard
We've had questionable play calling all year. I agree, the play calling was way too conservative in the second half. The reason we nearly lost the game was that we were "playing not to lose" instead of playing to win.
Re: Hurry up offense makes one yardThis thread is completely bogus. A staple of the tempo offense is the quick run on first down (especially after a big gain). Look at our play chart and you will see we usually got to 2nd and at least 6/7 after those gains. That creates way more opportunities. Plus after we do it enough we are able to dump passes right over their heads.

Re: Hurry up offense makes one yard
This reply is completely bogus. Yeah, we rocked the 109th best defense with a 3 yard gain after a big play! Way to intimidate them. Way to crush them. (Sarcasm if you can't tell.) Way to let them catch their collective breath. Against a top 100 defense maybe we get 0 yards. We don't have Alabama talent on the O line to steam roll most teams when they know we will be running up the middle.
