Quinn Named AAC Offensive Player Of The Week
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (The American/SMU) – Junior wide receiver and Biletnikoff Award Watch List member Trey Quinn was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday.
Quinn posted a career-high 186 yards on 17 receptions to help lead the Mustangs to a 31-28 overtime victory at Cincinnati. The 17 receptions make him the only FBS player since 2000 to record 15+ catches in three straight games, The FBS high for receptions in a game this season is 17, with Quinn posting two of three of those performances. His 186 receiving yards place him in a tie for sixth on the Mustangs' single-game list.
He is also the first Mustang with 100+ yards in three straight games since Keenan Holman in 2013, and the first since Jeremy Johnson the same year to have double-digit receptions in three straight games. His 17 catches place him third on SMU's all-time receptions in a game list (also had 17 at Houston 10/7/17), while he is also tied for the fifth spot on that list with his 15 catches against Connecticut on Sept. 30.
Quinn leads the team with 773 yards on 71 catches and five touchdowns, and has five kick returns for 113 yards and four punt returns for 17 yards. He is the national leader in receptions (10.1 per game) and is fifth nationally in receiving yards (110.4 ypg).
