We probably said the same thing on Oct 22, 2016. Lost to TCU @ home 33-3, whooped by Baylor 40-13, pummeled by Temple 45-20. Yet, destroyed #11 Houston 38-16.

Chad’s season last year had many blowouts that don’t reflect well. 7-5 this year. So he is a middle level P5 coaching candidate. Which is an upgrade over SMU.

So did Ron Meyer in his 2nd year at SMU-ending the 1977 season with 2 losses in which SMU lost by a combined score of 14-92 and losing 3 games by more than 4 TDs and getting pounded by NTSU in another loss. Big Deal. You guys are missing the BIG PICTURE-its all a part of the process of rebuilding a program from the ground up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMU_Musta ... 977_Season

Let’s hope those making the decisions have finally concluded that over the past 50 years of SMU fb our best HCs, Ron Meyer & CM have certain things in common:
Young Aggressive / High Energy Salesmen who relentlessly recruit Texas
That is the recipe for success for this program.

In terms of conference standings, the Navy and Memphis games are more important. Given that UCF is highest ranked and this is a home game (and homecoming), this needs to just be a competitive game IMHO. And, given that the crowd will be heavier in first half, I think we need to come out slinging right out of the gate and try to energize the home crowd. Big offensive plays. Get up early if at all possible. That's how I would game plan it. Just don't get war crimed. But Navy and Memphis are more important games.

We probably have little reason to suggest we might win this, but I think that we will be able to play looser than UCF trying to keep their unbeaten streak alive. Our offense has to protect the ball and convert scoring chances with TDs. We cannot leave our D out of the field for more than 50% of the game.
I just have a feeling we play well and win. The start is key. UCF have not been behind in any game this season except 3-0 to Maryland and 7-6 to Memphis both early in those games. If we can jump out on them and get up a couple of scores then I'm interested to see how they react.

There is literally nothing I've seen out of our defense that suggests we keep an offense like UCF under 50.
Back off Warchild seriously.

We give up 450 offensive yards in 1Q but only score 13 pts. They are so tired from running all over us that we take a lead into HT. After HT we give up several TDs and another 250 yards mid-Q3 but their legs are so tired now, we claim to be out of Gatorade, so leg-cramping ensues. We pull ahead late.
