BTW does anybody know the purpose of those arm tape jobs-see Hicks? You see it a lot but I've never heard an explanation of the purpose

The idea is that the tape pulls muscles and positions them in a way to allow for greater circulation and movement, I believe. It’s called K tape or Kinesiology tape
