Re: FIRE MALONE
Most of the time a head coach steps in and forces some necessary D changes. Where in HCCM??

Re: FIRE MALONE
Does HCCM care about defense? Isn't it all about "Up Tempo"? Look at what is says on the back of our helmets. This is who we hired - "Up Tempo" He never said anything about a shut down defense

I think he's supposed to be a great recruiter. Find another assignment for him so he can continue
to recruit, and team build.
The dunking of balls after turnovers was a great team building exercise during practice
JJ's defenses were better than this

Well time-out, JJ played crappier teams than what we are playing now. Remember JJ was the offense ΓÇ£guruΓÇ¥. Aka an idiot.

Re: FIRE MALONE
June/staff did a better job evaluating and signing defensive talent.
June signed Taylor Thompson and developed Margus. We had real defensive ends who pressured the QB.
We also had fast and athletic LB's. This defense is slow and not very athletic at all.
June also signed a lot of future NFL DBs.

Re: FIRE MALONE
The big difference that I see in our defense compared to other teams...the other teams players have arms...and they use those arms to tackle.
The entire defense over pursues, drops their head, brings in their arms, and tries to knock them down like a cannonball rather than tackle. The runner either bounces off and keeps going our just makes a cut and we miss completely. This is 100% an improper practice issue. Practice wrapping up. Practice open field tackling.

Re: FIRE MALONE
If it makes you feel any better there are actually 3 AAC teams with worse Defenses than SMU statistically--and all 3 of the worst defenses in the entire FBS are AAC teams. Its a tough league with the Offenses at SMU, UCF, USF, Memphis, Navy even Tulsa, UH, Tulane, Temple, East Carolina can put up good numbers
4 of the Top 12 Offenses in Country
6 of the Top 36
8 of the Top 50
out of 128 Offenses. I guess that shows there might be less quality Defensive players than Offensive players at the FBS level and the best G5 conference can't fill out their rosters with high quality defensive recruits
