BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

On both sides of the Mustang is the schedule for the 1964 SMU football season. Opponents were Sept. 19, Florida; Sept. 26, Ohio State; Oct. 3, Arlington State (home); Oct. 17, Rice (home); Oct. 21, Texas Tech; Oct. 31, Texas Univ.; Nov. 7, Texas A&M (home); Nov. 14, Arkansas; Nov. 21, Baylor (home); Nov. 28, TCU (home). SMU went 1-9 in 1964. The Mustangs' only 'W' was against the Arlington State Mavericks (now the University of Texas - Arlington). Sorry about the glare from the camera flash...

Sure wish my Dad hadn't written on the cover of this! His note says he got it from a relative named Steve at Christmas 1989. The Mustangs lost to the Aggie$, 27-20. :(

from the Waco Tribune-Herald, Nov. 1, 1968...the nation's leading passing combo of SMU's Jerry LeVias and Chuck Hixson give their impression of the Texas Longhorns.

I don't know about a daily, but Huskers Illustrated magazine does a cartoon each week. It always falls under one of two themes: either the "poor little opponent has no shot at beating the mighty Huskers" (whether they're playing Texas or Southern Omaha Tech State U's junior varsity team), or "look how passionate we Nebraska fans are -- the fact that you wrote the Red/White Spring Game into your calendar means you're just nutty about Nebraska."

They're not a complete waste of space, but I'm guessing the guy who draws them remembers when Tom Osborne was just a young pup who looked out of place on the sideline. They need a newer cartoonist .... badly.

That should work. I just clicked the "Img" button in the reply page. The [img] appears in the body of my reply. I copy paste the link right after that, http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d102/ ... wl1983.jpg

Then, click the *Img button again to close the tag.
