Re: Bowl Projections
Since you mention the helmet stickers, why have we removed the pony from the right side of our helmets? That is the one thing that makes our uniforms recognizable to everyone!
Re: Bowl Projections
I swear I saw someone wearing a Mustang Mana shirt on the sideline Saturday. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Bowl Projections
I don't recall the helmet sticker, but none of those actions point to a specific opponent.
Fans can wear whatever they want, but that would be surprising if it was a member of the support staff (or otherwise affiliated with the school). Frisco Bowl (Frisco) Dec. 20 American vs. MAC/MWC Projection: SMU vs. Central Michigan SMU secured a bowl bid back on Oct. 27 with a win over Tulsa. Since then, the Mustangs have lost three consecutive games. Saturday, they host Tulane, which needs a win to give the American Conference at least seven bowl-eligible teams. https://www.thescore.com/ncaaf/news/142 ... p-showdown
Re: Bowl ProjectionsDo these projection artists have any impact on who goes where? How do they determine what bowl wants which team without being in those conference rooms? Unless there is a universal bowl hierarchy that I don't know about.

Re: Bowl Projections![]() I believe these are the stickers that Stallion is referencing.
Re: Bowl ProjectionsI think they'll reward UCF, USF and Memphis with the bowl they earn or want in order of finish. So if one of them want an SEC matchup and/or Hawaii trip they will get first choice. Navy will go to Military Bowl and then other bowls will be determined by regional/travel considerations. There is no slotting of bowls in AAC

Re: Bowl Projections
like tiki, you forgot the socks.
Re: Bowl ProjectionsCoogs to Birmingham or maybe further out to Boca? Birmingham is a good matchup for an AAC team. Frisco is close for UH fans and maybe too close to be of interest to SMU? Hawaii is a nice reward for the team and band.
If you're the AAC admin, you probably just care about filling seats and don't care about matchups or rewards for players. Each bowl has swag bags anyway.
Re: Bowl ProjectionsFrisco might not be such a bad deal for SMU. Hopefully our team would have the support of a few fans that would otherwise not travel and I don't know what the bowl will plan as "entertainment" for the players, but they usually treat the teams pretty well and while our guys would be staying "local", they might be able to do some things they might otherwise never get to do.
Re: Bowl ProjectionsGetting to 7-5 during the regular season might just be more important for program momentum than beating a Sun Belch team in Frisco at 6-6

Re: Bowl Projections
Agreed, let's win Saturday and then worry about a bowl game. #Beat Clemson
Re: Bowl Projections
Sure, it would be a very good deal for SMU. No travel costs + the potential to sell more tickets than for any other game = very profitable for the school. For most SMU fans, zero travel costs.
The bowl committee might take the teams to a Cowboys, Mavericks or Stars game, but that would be special for the MAC/MWC team. Beyond that, what are the entertainment options in Frisco? Go to the mall? Also, what could they do in Frisco that SMU players never get to do otherwise?
Re: Bowl ProjectionsBottom line: who cares what bowl this team plays in if these guys can just beat Tulane and "whoever/wherever" in their bowl game to finish 8-5. That, along with keeping Chad & Co and this recruiting class in place bodes well for the future of SMU football.
