I haven't tried to find it just now but on this or another thread someone says that Morris will go this year or stay for two so that his son can finish at or at least have two years at the same HS and also that the stature of the HSs available might be a factor.

I thought that might be pretty insightful.
I think you're right that if he stays, he stays for at least for two. With Sutton, Brown, Lawler, Gentry, etc. leaving, I wonder if he'll win enough games next year to find himself in a similar situation a year from now.
Just watched ASU press Conf. Sounds like they are going to retain the assistant coaches. Morris may be in the mix, as AD said the new coach must be able to recruit in CA, AZ, Texas, LA. Needs to be able to teach up, recruit very well (repeated often), get kids into the NFL. Needs to build program into top 15 every yr. Needs high academic standards. Compete with Stanford/USC.
Although part of me wants to see Aggie pay a 9m buyout plus a 35m contract and then screw it up, it just continues to increase the craziness of coach pay and make it [deleted] us next tier programs. We go try to find the next up and comer before we get anywhere near that.
In fact if chad leaves it wouldnt shock me to see us try to go to craddock as HC! And then try to keep some of the staff.
While I wouldn't say I'm in favor of that-I do note that SMU has assembled a pretty good nucleus of young graduate assistants and off field coaches waiting for their chance. I got a hunch that was intentional. I'm talking about guys like Chris Scott (whose played a big part in recruiting) and his old QB at Tulsa and former NFL QB G.J. Kinne and others. These guys could be similar to the young guns who were on the Clemson staff but not the Coaching Staff that were given on-field responsibilities at SMU like Fry and Craddock. Move Traylor up to Offensive Coordinator which I think he needs or at least should have to get a Head Coaching position at an AAC level.

"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
