that's probably why they tried to get it done over Thansgiving Weekend before anyone was paying attention

He would be a good OC hire by a P5 school with offense problems or a HC hire at a place like Texas State.

Is no one interested in Les Miles? I would think his name would come up in some conversations considering the number of openings.

As of now Traylor has a resume similar to, if not better than, Briles had when hired by UHStallion wrote:While I wouldn't say I'm in favor of that-I do note that SMU has assembled a pretty good nucleus of young graduate assistants and off field coaches waiting for their chance. I got a hunch that was intentional. I'm talking about guys like Chris Scott (whose played a big part in recruiting) and his old QB at Tulsa and former NFL QB G.J. Kinne and others. These guys could be similar to the young guns who were on the Clemson staff but not the Coaching Staff that were given on-field responsibilities at SMU like Fry and Craddock. Move Traylor up to Offensive Coordinator which I think he needs or at least should have to get a Head Coaching position at an AAC level.

Re: Annual Coaching Carousel Mega-Thread
sumlin out at aggieland. doubt if there is any interest in hccm as his resume is pretty light considering what they want. Could Leech end up at a&m? or Tenn.
Re: Annual Coaching Carousel Mega-Thread
I know I’m going to get shot for saying this but
If we lose Chad I’d be interested in giving Sumlin a call.

Isn’t he already heading to ASU? I would not have a problem with Sumlin.

At the rate things are going, he might get fired by Ohio State over this.

I agree that Traylor has a fantastic background. Deep ET connections, skins on the wall and UT experience. Briles had one more title at a bigger school. Briles also had an innovative offense and was churning out highly productive QBs (e.g., Kelan Luker and Branndon Stewart). Was Traylor known for his innovative offense at Gilmer?
The main deal was that Briles was an ex-UH player and fans thought he'd stay around to bring back the Yeoman glory days.

Traylor might be a good candidate and that may have been part of Chad's sales job getting him in here. HC experience, albeit at the H.S. level (like Chad), Texas connections and he's been a part of the flagship program in this state. If Chad leaves and takes some key assistants with him, Traylor should know some effective recruiters that could hopefully help keep this class together or find good last minute replacements
