If A&M hires Jimbo to a ten year contract, that will change Morris' decision making process significantly.

That said, i still don't think a P5 program is going to look at him. It might make him open to a lower tier job like Tech, though.

Sources: John Currie was prepared to hire Mike Leach but university officials wouldn’t allow him to do so. Phillip Fulmer has been sabotaging search process in hopes to become Tennessee’s AD

Regardless of Jimbo's deal, Chad knows he has to win at the mid to high P5 level to get considered by A&M. That will take at least 5 - 7 years. So it might be good timing especially since at the end of his 10 year deal Jimbo will be 62, rich and maybe ready to go to the house.

A&M is making a major statement in offering a 10 year $7MM / year contract to Jimbo.
1. is the money
2. they think solid Texas recruiting credentials aren't needed to get Texas kids to A&M. A&M sells itself to Texas kids as long as the coach is a "good recruiter".
3. In hiring Jimbo they want to get a shot at the top FLA kids. They see lots of FLA talent they want to supplement the Texas talent.

or Aggy could be screwing the pooch again hiring a balding old man on the backside of his career and moving outside his footprint after a pretty disastrous year. Last 3 years have been 10-3, 10-3 and now 5-6 in the ACC-they are no longer top-dog in the ACC. Is this Darrell Royal 1960 hire or a Darrell Royal 1975 hire. This ain't the start of new Barry Switzer era or Frank Broyles era or Bob Stoops era or Jackie Sherrill era or even Mack Brown era. This is hiring a guy on the backside of his career in a SEC Division where a Coach doesn't last 3 years and you signed him to 10 years. I don't think Jimbo moves the needle that much in Texas. Still good enough for 3rd or 4th in SEC West. In Texas its usually been the new, young energetic Head Coach at the Flag Ship schools, who rose against the tired, old Head Coach, who dominated as the older coach was sent out to retirement.

Jimbo is 52. Younger than Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh or Chip Kelly. Jimbo is younger than Sumlin.

Pretty sure A&M is blinded by the fact his name is Jimbo.

The history of Football in the State of Texas says otherwise-this is a young man's game. I'm not worried about Jimbo building a dynasty in Texas. Doubt he'll do much more than Sumlin

and all those guys had their glory days at a very early age. You are looking for the next Ron Meyer, Gundy, Royal, Switzer, Stoops, Broyles, Teaff, Patterson not the last one--Head Coaches flame out or burn out at a very early age. Identifying the next great young Coach is much better than A&M's approach.

In that case maybe we should fire Morris and hire Garrett Gilbert.

The best scenario is to hold on to Chad Morris for 2 more years and keep hoping that Craddock produces Top 10 Offenses-then you might feel more comfortable in turning over the reins to Craddock at about the Age of 35 if he has established a great reputation. That is the dream scenario-with an easy transition
