SMU's Janielle Dodds earns C-USA Player of the Week honors
Sophomore post posts ninth double-double against Southern Miss

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU All-American candidate Janielle Dodds earned this week's Conference USA Player of the Week honor as the sophomore led
the Mustangs to an 84-62 upset over Southern Miss Monday night. Dodds posted her ninth double-double of the season and 21st of her career in SMU's lone contest of the week.

The Mustangs extended their home win streak to seven games and now holds a 10-3 record this season in Moody Coliseum, the site of the 2006 C-USA Women's Basketball Championship, which will be held March 2-5.

A sophomore post player from Fairfax, Va., Dodds recorded her ninth double-double of the season in SMU's lone game of the week, an 84-62 upset over Southern Miss Monday night. With the win, SMU moves into sole possession of second place in Conference USA standings with a 7-3 record (12-10 overall).

Dodds had a 24-point, 10-rebound effort, adding two assists in her 25 minutes of play. The All-American candidate shot 81 percent (9-of-11) from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Dodd's output pushed her to career totals of 775 points and 430 rebounds.

She has scored in double figures in 22 of her last 26 games and is one of only three Mustangs to start in all 22 games this season. As the team's leading scorer (16.0 ppg) and top rebounder (8.4 rpg), Dodds is tied for second among all C-USA players for scoring (17.7 ppg) and is third in league play averaging 8.8 boards per game.

In addition, Dodds tops the Ponies' squad in scoring average, points per game, field goals made, field goal attempts, free throws made and attempts.
