I read a thread with Adam Grosbard saying "The first name will Jeff Traylor, the SMU running backs coach. He's a former Texas high school coach like Chad and will be one of the top candidates. Some SMU fans have been floating offensive coordinator Joe Craddock, too, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him follow Chad considering how close they are."
Has anyone ever heard of a coach below coordinators getting the HC job? That would seem insane to me and would only cause friction with all the other coaches. If someone actually takes CM, I really hope we have another OC/DC that has great recruiting background takeover.

Any thoughts on why Christmas would matter for his kid? They will be finishing state playoffs in 2 1/2 weeks at the latest. Someone can unenroll from HP very easily. Enrolling is much tougher. Spring practice at another school? Maybe it's to be respectful for the early signing period and to not leave right after it. Has Norvell turned UA/UT down? He'd seem like a great fit for both. Kevin Steele? That would be quite a turnaround from the Baylor days. Sort of like Phil Bennett. Alum11, Tony Levine was UH's special teams and Assoc HC when he took over for Kevin Sumlin. At least Traylor was very successful at Gilmer (a 4A school like Stephenville/Art Briles). Briles was also a RB coach at Tech before he became UH's head coach. Levine wasn't a previous head coach with strong TX ties. Is Traylor known for his innovative offense at Gilmer or particular skill with the RBs? He known for recruiting.

You know the date could have been intended to be the 20th. That would make a little sense. I am just repeating what I was told.

I think I agree on this? Both of these jobs are fear driven. Fan driven. Fear of the fans. They are going to say/think, a 7-5 record in the AAC for our amazing school? So, I figure a 90% chance Morris stays at SMU.

Yes, i think we agree on it. My hope is most boosters, fans, people with influence will have the snooty attitude: "We deserve the best and this coach hasn't beaten a P5 team and barely had a winning season". That's my hope. I understand if you look at all the other information (time at Clemson, and where SMU was to it is now) then you can tell he's worth alot. My hope is we keep him for another 2-3 years and then he can bolt. The good thing is that he didnt leave last year. I think that would have messed us up pretty good.

There are people in high positions here that believe they need someone who can do a complete rebuild as Morris has done at SMU as opposed to Norvell inheriting a solid program and keeping it level.

Add the hometown favorite into the bunch.
Tennessee: ESPN’s Chris Low tweets Phillip Fulmer and Tee Martin have had an extensive talk, noting “sources close to Martin felt like it was a positive conversation…” In subsequent tweet Low notes that Martin has a great job at USC; but would always listen to his alma mater, and although would prefer to be considered for the head coaching position, might “even as the OC in the right situation.” Update> Bruce Feldman tweets that Fulmer and Tee have spoken now as well.
I'm more worried about Arkansas.

It is going to be real hard for a new AD with no Arkansas connection to sell the fans on the 7-5 SMU coach, but many things in this year’s coaching searches have surprised me.

How much is Jerry's input in play here? I know he gives big bucks but don't know where he ranks on the influence scale. Think he is a Chad man? (He might recommend Jason Garrett if they lose to the Giants.)

Word is Jerry is big with money but minimal with input
