The candidates are: 1) Joe Craddock (gone with CM I would bet) 2) Sonny Cumbie 3) Sonny Dykes 4) Todd Graham 5) Kevin Sumlin 6) Jeff Traylor (same concerns as everyone else)
I thought the recommendation from others to go after Les Miles seem pretty good. I feel like that would have a "Larry Brown" effect as well.
Sonny Dykes...lolz
Yeah this feels like typical DMN. Very lazy selection. Two TCU guys, and a few unemployed guys and the RB coach who has apparently been named interim HC...
interesting time and an interesting place. Consider this. Normally you have the choice of an old very accomplished guy looking for another chance (Les Miles, Mack Brown) or in past years (Larry Coker, Chan Gailey, Dennis Frachonie) or the young up and comer (Combine, Craddock, Littrell). But this year there seems to be a third type candidate, the guy from Texas who was the the young up a comer, did good but not great at the P5 level, is young enough not to be old and traveled enough that they might want to stay in one place, and that one place is home to them, Texas. Todd Graham and Sonny Dykes.
@Horns247 has learned #Longhorns DC Todd Orlando is a candidate to replace Chad Morris at #SMU. 247sports.com...
Texas defense was the only thing working this season for them. I think he sounds like a great hire. Maybe he takes over, Jeff Traylor gets OC and maybe Todd can bring someone over to be DC. Wouldn't be the worst.
I'm all for hiring a defensive minded coach if he can keep on some of our current offensive coaches. Orlando (DC from Texas) as HC and promote Traylor to OC would get my seal of approval.

Agreed! Hopefully this strategy gets considered at Rick Hart's level.
No-brainer, Kevin Sumlin. Did a great job in the toughest conference in the country. Best resume. Texas ties, what else do you want? Wow factor both locally and nationally. Would definitely get the attention of the recruits.

"We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."

I always worry about the incentive of someone just handed $10.6 million. That would be my only concern.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand

Aggy fans would disagree about him doing a great job.
To me, he would be the same liability as Kiffin. If Sumlin came in here, and let's say gets us an 8-4 season and the next a 9-3 with conference championship possibility, then he's gone and recruiting class stunted again.

Anybody worth having has that liability.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Probably but there's a chance that an up and comer doesn't have the ability to fly. Lane proved himself at FAU. Sumlin proved himself at Houston. They both would easily hit our ceiling price and probably ask for more than say Todd Orlando. Chad had Clemson to be able to fly without that he would still be here easily.
